Meditation

You do not have to be Buddhist to meditate. Why a Buddhist meditate is to purify the mind. It is a good way do heal yourself, and to strengthen your mind. At the picture to the left you see Buddha meditating. This is the most common position, but you can meditate wile walking, sitting in a taxi, or where ever you like. When I meditate I usually use the position at the picture. Cross your legs, right leg on top. Straighten your back, close your eyes. Focus on breathing - through your nose. One technique to breath is to count: to 1 at the first inhale, then exhale. To 2 at the second inhale, then exhale. Continue up to 10 then you count backwards to 1. When reaching 1, start counting to 10 again.

Enjoy! I will write more about meditation.
Buddhism

Well, am I Buddhist or not? I would say no. A Buddhist shall not drink, I drink alcohol sometimes - like 2-3 times a week. Not more...But the religion tell you to progress during your life, that actuelly means that you can drink. But you should try to drink less for each time you drink.

What about the religion? You are free to have other Gods or other religions as a Buddhist. When are you a Buddhist? You maby wake up one morning and realize you are, and you Are! As simple as that!

What I like with Buddhism is that you are not forced to be Buddhist, you are not forced to stay Buddhist. Therefor I see the religion as very free and open. To simplify the standards of the belief, philosofy: The main thing is to be aware of what you are doing in this life (and other). Be good. Act kind. Respect others. Do not take any life. Purify your mind through meditation. Do not lie. Do not take what is not given. Do not drink intoxicating liqours.
