The times defined in these pages are relative to Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, which is year 0, meaning that negative number states so and so many years before Episode IV.
I wish to remind that these pages are highly unofficial and may have some inaccuraties. I, Tomi Kalevi Kaunisto of Mänttä, Finland, apologise for any errors on these pages and beg Lucasfilm(tm) not to sue my pants off. Feel free to mail me about any really bad mistakes.
Special thanks to Matthew Justice (whoever and whereever he is). A SW timeline of his has been a helpful source of information for me.
6.9.2002
Move to this location complete (more or less).
15.2.2003
OK, this site is NOT updated. But this page isn't dead, only sleeping...
21.9.2003
Added pic to Mos Eisley, just to prove the previous comment.
18.10.2003
Several little fixes here and there; mostly about assumed actors of Episode III
30.1.2005
Minor updates. More coming soon.
(maybe I'll finally gather few good pics to put here...)
15.6.2005
Fixed obvious conflicts with Episode III. Now that the saga has ended I'll be working on this.
19.6.2006
After a year of no updates and the rise of numerous better and more practical SW sites (and Wikipedia), I think it's time to declare that
THIS PAGE IS DEAD.
There may come moments in the future when I'll be ispired to continue this project, but in general we're done here.
I started making this 1998 when internet was so different (not to mention our view of Star Wars). At that time there seemed to be a need for a page like this; maybe there really was. But now time has raced by like Anakin in his pod and this era is over.
I can't help wondering how many people visited here along the years... (there were some breaks and times without counter)
PS. I make the very last (for now) little edit on Boba Fett, since he always has been my favourite character.
The medicaldroid in SW5:TESB scene where Luke is in bactatank. The same droid is is seen in the end testing Luke's new hand.
Admiral Ackbar is the leader of Mon Calamari fleet in attack against the second Death Star. Has been working in many tasks for the Rebellion and New Republic.
In one point (happens about year 9) Ackbar is suspected to be traitor (by few senators of New Republic, not our friends, who know Ackbar well).
Later he leaves his position on New Republic to return to work on his homeworld.
(Much) later is mentioned a place called New Alderaan, where some of Solo family lived atleast some time. Jem Ysanna dies when dark jedis attack there in attemp to capture Solo kids. After this imperial troops take over the planet.
Supreme Chancellor's majordomo.
Queen and later senator of planet Naboo.
Her cover identity in Episode I is called Padme Naberrie.
See Panaka.
Han originally had plans to name him Han junior, but Leia made the decision.
For more info see the "Young Jedi Knights" novels.
Also known for many non-SW works like the new prequels to Frank Herbert's Dune.
In battle of Yavin (Episode IV) Wedge is Red 2. His name is mentioned in movie so many times, that I don't bother to explain exact scenes.
In battle of Hoth (Episode V) Wedge is Rogue 3. His gunner is called (Wes?) Janson and was played by Ian Liston. They're the ones who "trip" that AT-AT.
In battle of Endor (Episode VI) Wedge is in his most decisive role. He's the X-wing that with Millennium Falcon blows up the second Death Star.
Wedge may be from Corellia, not sure.
Later gets really frienly with Qwi Xux.
More info about Wedge Antilles (and the rogue squadron) in X-wing novels and X-wing: Rogue Squadron comics.
The mighty imperial warmachines seen in battle of Hoth. Possibly the toughest thing on groung battle seen in Star Wars movies. Thought, they have their weakness: feet. Besides, the smaller two-legged version (AT-ST or ST-AT; can't remember which) isn't so great opponent as we see in Endor.
Later is also mentioned MT-AT, Mountain Terrain... Those are like giant spiders.
A rebel fighter. Fast and designed to fight primarily to fighters. Used in battle of Endor when one badly hurt, dying A-wing destroyed Vader's Super Star Destroyer by crashing to it's bridge (only in movie, not in book by the way).
Bib Fortuna is actually same species as Oola the dancer. His tentacles (or whatever are those things in backs of their heads) just are wrapped around his neck.
He meets Luke once in Anchorhead just before we first see young Skywalker in movie version of Episode IV. Biggs has taken a job as the first mate of a ship called Rand Ecliptic. The whole ship defected to join Alliance. Biggs and Luke meet again at 4th moon of Yavin before the Death Star battle. This scene was cut out of movie. In battle Biggs was on sign Red-3. Vader kills him in Luke's attack run to destroy Death Star. This makes Biggs Darklighter the last rebel who dies in that battle and in whole Episode IV.
Boba Fett is the most well-known bounty hunter of Star Wars.
It has later been retconned that Fett lived for time under the identity of the real Mereel.
Fett is the guy in "Empire Strikes Back" who follows Millennium Falcon to tibanna gasmines and delivers carbonitefrozen Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt. Between episodes V and VI he possibly kills IG-88 (at least Fett destroys his ship) and 4-Lom. In "Return of the Jedi" Boba Fett fights with Luke Skywalker and Han Solo a little and (almost) gets eaten by Sarlacc the pitmonster. However, he did survive that and returns to hunt our heroes a few years later in comic release "Dark Empire I & II".
Boba Fett's ship seen in movies is called Slave 1. It is Firespray-class ship by Kuat System's engineering. In "Dark Empire I" is also seen ship known as Slave 2, but it is destroyed and in DE II we see again the old ship.
See also Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire, Shadows of the Empire, Boba Fett: Death, Lies and Treachery.
Actual Boushh was a bounty hunter who died about 3. "Shadows of the Empire" tells how Leia got his outfit.
As his counterpart we often see R2-D2.
One of the biggest nations of Alliance. Calamari have been called "the soul of alliance". Most well-known of their leaders is admiral Ackbar.
Female calamaris are smaller and more delicate then the male ones seen in movies.
Between Episodes II and III the Calamari join the separatists.
At year 10 Calamari homeworld is attacked with the World Devastators and a year later by admiral Daala.
C'baoth created a clone called Luuke (Skywalker), which was made using the hand of Luke, that was cut of by Vader in Cloud City. This clone, as well as C'baoth himself, was slain by Mara Jade in Wayland (see Emperor) with some help of Luke, Leia, Han and Talon Karrde. All this happened year 9.
For more info read novels by Timothy Zahn.
A story goes that Han long ago saved Chewies life. Since this is greatly a debt of honor to wookiee, he's stayed with Solo since.
Corellian corvette, also known as Rebel Blockade Runner
At 18 the government of Corellian system is overturned, and a war within the system breaks out. For details about this see novels "Ambush at Corellia", "Assault at Selonia" and "Showdown at Center Point".
Seen in episodes I, II and III (and, I assume, end of episode IV special edition).
Before SW4:ANH Grand Moff Tarkin promoted Daala to admiral
and gave her a mission to command the Maw Installation research center near
Kessel, where she was hiding with a small army for more then
ten years. They were working on a project to create a weapon more powerful then the
Death Star, which they in the end did.
The Sun Crusher.
Daala had in her use four Star Destroyers; Hydra was destroyed by Han Solo and Kyp durron, Manticore by admiral Ackbar and Basilisk by Kyp Durron. Don't know what happened to the fourth ship, Gorgon.
For more info see Dantooine and read the Jedi Academy -trilogy (see Kevin J. Anderson).
In Episode IV princess Leia tries to buy time and save her home planet by naming this deserted base to Tarkin.
About year 11 the New Republic evacuates
the small population of Eol Sha (led by Gantoris), a doomed planet,
to Dantooine.
They are soon after that
slaughtered by admiral Daala's imperial forces.
For details see novel "Darksaber".
A smuggler/bounty hunter. Is seen in "Shadows of the Empire" (comics and the computergame) helping rebels when they try to catch Boba Fett and his carbonitefrozen cargo also known as Han Solo.
Two of the most powerful weapons ever build by the Empire. As well known, the first Death Star was destroyed by Luke Skywalker in battle of Yavin just before it destroyed Yavin like it had done to Alderaan. This battle station was commanded by grand moff Tarkin. On it were working also officers Motti and Tagge during its destruction. Death Star was won because its weakness: a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft led directly to the reactor system. A precise hit started a chain reaction which destroyed the station.
Some of the maindesigners of Death Star were Bevel Lemelisk (or Lemelski, other is a typo, don't know which), Ohran Keldor (died about 12), Nasdra Magrody and Qwi Xux.
The classic blueprint of Death Star
As well known (again), the unfinished second Death Star was destroyed by Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antilles in battle of Endor.
There was also a third Death Star, an unfinished prototype that remained unused in Maw installation until year 11 conflict. Kyp Durron caused it's destruction.
Check Tarkin for more info.
Derlin is later promoted to colonel. At year 9 he still works for the New Republic.
Rebel general Dodonna is that guy in the end of Episode IV who
gives the briefing to pilots, leader of rebel forces in battle of
Yavin.
Dodonna still has a high position in the New Republic at year 11.
It was Dooku, who cut off Anakin's hand.
Killed by Anakin in Episode III.
Dorsk 81 is from planet Khomm. About thousand years ago people of Khomm
desited they had reached a social and/or genetic perfectness. So, to stop
unvanted changes (thus any changes, since perfect can't get better), they
quit their evolution by leaving the traditional breeding and starting to clone
themselves.
I don't know if their cloning technology has any part in clone wars or
Palpatine's return from death.
As a clone Dorsk 81 is actually a failiar. He isn't exactly like the 80 Dorsks before
him. The main difference is that he is a jedi.
A personal note of mine: Perhaps Dorsk 81 is a perfect clone. Perhaps the original Dorsk had jedi potential, but it was never noted. Who knows.
Kyp is a bitter young man with Force too strong with him. He spend most of his life in Kessel in slavery. After he got free, Kyp went to study with Luke, but his hatred on empire and Exar Kun's persuations seduced his to the dark side.
For more info see Daala, Sun Crusher.
Only threath to this system was the Rebel Alliance, that started a galactic Civil War against Empire. Year 4 in battle of Endor Empire lost its control on galaxy. Imperial troops however kept on fighting till year 10, when Empire was permanently(?) destroyed. Some things though did stay operational.
A few imperial officers (mostly) worth mentioning are moff Jerjerrod, general Motti, admiral Ozzel, admiral Piett, general Tagge, general Veers, admiral Daala, grand admiral Thrawn and grand moff Tarkin.
For more info see New Republic, Death Star, Star Destroyer, Ssi-ruuk, Vader and more of these pages then I bother to list here. More details (of course) in many Star Wars novels and comics.
The forestmoon where ewoks live in Episode IV. The sanctuary moon from which the shield of the second Death Star was generated. I don't actually know moon of what planet Endor is or in what system it is or much anything else about it. Anyway, the battle of Endor (about 4), where the Death Star was destroyed and Emperor and Vader died, was the turning point of whole galactic civil war. After that Rebel Alliance turned into New Republic.
A fact not seen in movie is that Emperor actually gave orders that Death Star should destroy Endor immediately if the shield would go inoperative. Seems to me he did this to irritate Luke. Moff Jerjerrod just didn't have the time to do this before Death Star was destroyed.
Kun seems to have had something (propably a lot) to do with the Sith War.
When the Jedi defeated him, he was able to keep his conciousness (more or less) alive and stayed on Yavin, sleeping, waiting for a Jedi to find him, a Jedi whom he'd turn to the dark side...
This unfortunate person was Kyp Durron.
In the end Luke's apprentices defeat the spirit of Kun.
A comment: The place for Luke's Jedi Academy was just excelently chosen. I mean, there just isn't a better place to train young, inexperienced Jedi-pupils in their critical phase of learning the Force than the home of the Sith. Let's give a big hand to master Skywalker!
Vodo-Siosk Baas (see holokron) was Kun's teacher and one of the Jedi who defeated him (thought he himself was killed).
For more info read novels "Dark Apprentice" and "Champions of the Force" and the Sith War comics.
The Force is what gives a Jedi
his power. It's an energy field created by all living things.
It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy
together.
(- Obi-Wan Kenobi)
The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to
the power of the Force.
(- Darth Vader)
But beware of the dark side. Anger... fear... aggression.
The dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow,
quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the
dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny,
consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice.
(- Yoda)
Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy
surrounds us and binds us.
(- Yoda)
Through the Force, things you will see. Other places.
The future...the past. Old friends long gone.
(- Yoda)
So much for quotes. A couple curiosities:
On planet Myrkr lives a dog-like animal called vornskr. It is
possibly only known not-intelligent species, that uses Force. They do
it mainly to find food. Check Talon Karrde.
On same planet there's a lizard called ysalamir. It creates some
kind of vacuum in Force, a small area where Force can not be used.
Gantoris was one of Luke's first pupils. Before that he was leader of Eol Sha colony (see Dantooine).
He was killed by spirit of Exar Kun.
I'm not quite sure what language Greedo speaks, but it might be Ubese (see Boushh). Judge yourself, if you got Star Wars on video.
A Neimoidian trade viceroy. Killed by Anakin in Episode III.
Husband of Leia, father of Jacen, Jaina and Anakin. A rebel general, smugler, scoundrel, hero and lots of else. Owner of Millennium Falcon since he won it from Lando Calrissian in a game of sabacc. Born in Corellian star system about -29.
Han has had many employers, but I only know the most famous, the Rebel Alliance and Jabba. We all know (I hope) how Solo got himself carbonitefrozen in Cloud City in Episode V. Boba Fett had some problems in delivering Han "Iceblock" Solo to Jabba the Hutt because of a few bounty hunters.
Althought Solo shoots people all the time, he doesn't personally kill anyone important. We (hopefully) remember how he shoots Greedo and (almost) kills Fett in Episode VI, but that's about it.
For more info about Han Solo see Solo, Chewbacca, Nal Hutta, Star's End, Shug Ninx, Salla Zend and most of any Star Wars material, especially novels "Han Solo at Stars' End", "Han Solo's Revenge" and "Han Solo and the Lost Legacy".
In book version of Episode V Hobbie dies by crashing on the AT-AT -walker that in movie destroyed the generators. The walker also explodes killing crew including general Veers.
According Rogue Squadron -comics Hobbie is still live and active after Endor.
Emperor Palpatine had it until Leia stole it from him. Holokron showed Luke the way to planet Ossus.
Events described above were in comic release "Dark Empire I & II".
Holokron is destroyed by the spririt of Exar Kun. I'm not sure if Luke is able later to fix it.
Hutts are this race of creatures that must have been bossing other races for a long, long time, because that's the only way I can imagine this kind of species to evolve. Hutts are indeed politically and economicly wery powerful and often the best customers a good bounty hunter can find.
For more info about hutts see Jabba the hutt, Zorba the hutt, Nal Hutta and Darksaber.
The vile gangster Jabba the hutt. Born in Nal Hutta Force knows when. Killed by Leia in Episode VI. Lived his last years in Tatooine.
Jabba was an employer of Han Solo, Bib Fortuna, Greedo, Boba Fett and numerous other bounty hunters.
I personally highly recommend comic "Jabba the hutt - The Dynasty Trap". It's a very entertaining little story.
The goofy gungan. You know him, the orange weirdo. If you don't, go see the damn movies.
For curiosity check Teebo.
It appears to me that jedi knights were first seen about -25000 when hyperdrive was invented and Old Republic was founded. My data about this is quite inaccurate.
Earliest detailed info I have about jedis are things happening about 4000 years before movies. One of the jedis who lived those days was called Ulic Qel-Droma. A happening of that period is an assembly of 10,000 Jedi Knights accured at Mount Meru on Deneba. Much more about ancient jedis I don't know. Check Holokron, Ossus and ysanna.
The present problems of jedis started during the fall of the
Old Republic. Since -20 jedi knights were hunted and killed.
Only a few survived: some jedi masters like
Yoda, our well-known Obi-Wan Kenobi
and a woman called Vima-Da-Boda. There was
also a man who disappeared into a gascloud and ended up to
Ganath system, an isolated place where techology is a bit
behind from most of galaxy. In there he became leader (he
describes it: "It is said that a powerful jedi can control
weaker people. I have done so... justly, I hope.").
His name is Brand Empatojaoys (yes, I did spell it correct). He and Vima
help Luke and others to take down Palpatine for good.
The new golden age of jedis was started by Luke Skywalker. Altought Luke wasn't the last jedi as Yoda says, he was the only one powerful enough to fight the empire and Emperor (after Obi-Wan was killed). After taking down Palpatine (which is actually much longer story then seen in movies) Luke establishes the Jedi Academy on Yavin IV.
We all know something about jeditricks, mindcontrolling, lifting objects and so on. But there are some less-known jedisecret. One of them is so called jedi battlemeditation. I'm not quite sure how it works, but basic idea seems to be completely consentrating on using the Force without any other methods of fighting.
For more info see Force, Skywalkers, Solos, Ood Bnar, every link on this page and most of any Star Wars material not involving mainly ewoks or droids.
For all I know, he died in destruction of Death Star.
See also Endor.
A jedi knight, a teacher of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Killed by Darth Maul in Episode I (year -32).
Story of Karrde is similar to Han Solo. Was a usual smugler, staying away from war, then gets too involved with a few friendly rebels and so on (except Karrde is seen about year 9, when Rebel Alliance has turned into New Republic).
Karrdes right hand man Aves becomes an acquaintace of Wedge Antilles.
Karrde has two pet vornksrs called Drang and Sturm (see Force).
For details read novels of Timothy Zahn.
The end of "Return of the Jedi" was originally planned to happen on Kashyyyk, but cute ewoks got the role for Endor (for commercial reasons, I dare to claim).
In Episode I kills Darth Maul. In episode III destroys Grievous.
Obi-Wan was a general in Clone Wars. Leia says he served her father. She means senator Bail Organa.
Kenobi's jedi master was Yoda (as we all well know). He was also trained by
Qui-Gon Jinn.
Ben himself
trained Anakin and Luke Skywalker
(as we all extremely well know).
When Luke and Leia were born Obi-Wan helped to hide them from Anakin and emperor. Obi-Wan took Luke to live with Owen in Tatooine.
For more info see Force, most of the links on this page and (for Force's sake) Star Wars movies, especially episodes I to IV.
Also: Kessel route: see Millennium Falcon.
Dies in Episode III.
According comic "Prelude to Rebellion" his race has twenty times more women than men, so men including Ki have numerous wives. Ki is also told to have (at least) seven daughters. This of course conflicts with the movies.
Lando once helped the people of Taanab, a farming planet, against a band of raiders of Norulac. Lando refers to this as battle of Taanab in Episode VI.
Actually I know quite little about Lando. After battle of Endor he still works as rebel general, except Rebellion has turned into New Republic.
For more info see novels "Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu", "Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon" and "Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of Thonboka".
Daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, twinsister of Luke. Mother of Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo. Wife of Han Solo. Born in Episode III.
Leia was send to live as the daughter of Senator Bail Organa, on Alderaan.
All Leia remembers about her (foster) mother, who died when she was young, are images, feelings. Leia describes her very beautiful and kind...but sad.
A friend of hers was called Winter.
Leia, following in her foster father's path, became a senator as well. That's not all she became, of course... she became the leader of her cell in the Alliance against the corrupted Empire. And because she had diplomatic immunity, she was a vital link for getting information to the Rebel cause. That's what she was doing when her path crossed Luke's... for her foster parents had always told her to contact Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine, if her troubles became desperate.
Well, the movie stuff you ought to know, so I'll skip the stories about how she met Luke and Han and other well-known persons and things. For detail, check out Boushh and Wicket. After all, everything else she does is shooting, gibing with Han Solo and being either threatened or rescued.
Leia and Han get married about 8.
Later Luke trains her to become a jedi. She saves Luke from the dark side and helps him to win returned Emperor (see "Dark Empire" -comics).
For more info see Skywalker, Solo and Organa.
Son of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, twinbrother of Leia. Born in Episode III.
Sort of the main character of Episodes IV to VI (and many stories after that). In older script he has even bigger role in episode IV, it's been clearly cut down, especially in beginning.
Obi-Wan took baby Luke to live with Owen, to hide him from Emperor and Vader. Luke lived his childhood in Owen's farm in Tatooine with such companions as Biggs Darklighter, Fixer and Camie. The rest you ought to know.
Luke is a jedi knight. In his
time he was one of the last jedi. He later learns to use the
Force very well
and becomes a jedi master and establishes
the Jedi Academy in Yavin IV about year 11.
There he teaches Gantoris, Streen,
Kirana Ti,
Dorsk 81. Kyp Durron,
Cilghal and some others.
As we all well know (I hope) Luke was trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.
Things we well know about Luke, but which however are worth
mentioning:
Luke destroyed the first Death Star
on his X-wing.
Vader cut his right hand off in
Cloud City, but in the end Luke did same to
him. Luke saved his father from the dark side.
Things less known about Luke:
Empire/Emperor found Luke's hand as well as his/his fathers old lightsaber. Of that hand is later created a clone (see Joruus C'baoth). Luke will get the lightsaber back and in the end gives it to Mara Jade.
When Palpatine returns about year 10, Luke almost turns to dark side. He is saved by his sister Leia, who Luke had taught as jedi. Little after this incident Luke does his trip to Ossus, where he finds the tribe of Ysannas and some ruins of ancient jedi settlements.
Other persons/things/places more or less related to Luke Skywalker:
Droids R2-D2 and C-3PO,
Beru, Luke's brother-in-law
Han Solo, Chewbacca,
Wedge Antilles,
Lando Calrissian, Wampa,
Dak, AT-AT walkers
(Luke did destroy one),
Sarlacc (it was supposed to eat him),
Rancor (it was also supposed to eat him)
Jabba the Hutt, Sandpeople,
Boba Fett
(well, they did have a little encounter), Anchorhead,
Mos Eisley, Alderaan,
Hoth, Dagobah,
Bespin, Sullust (?),
Endor, ewoks,
Byss, Holokron,
Kam Solusar, Waru.

Solo, Skywalker,
Rebellion, Empire.
Interesting Star Wars material with details about Luke:
Comics: Shadows of the Empire (also a computergame), Dark Empire I & II and
Empire's End (they are great), possibly Heir to Empire.
Novels: (I don't personally know these, so I'm only assuming Luke appeares
in these books)
The Truce at Bakura, The Glove of Darth Vader, Lost City of the Jedi,
Zorba the Hutt's Revenge, Mission from Mount Yoda, Queen of the Empire,
Prophets of the Dark Side, Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising,
The Last Command (I've read this one), Jedi Search (this too), Dark Apprentice (this too),
Champions of the Force,
Children of the Jedi (this I know to have Luke in it), Darksaber,
The Crystal Star (has very propably Luke), Before the Storm,
Shield of Lies (rumor says Luke does some investigation about his mother in
this book).
A jedi master. Kills Jango Fett. Killed in Episode III by Palpatine and Anakin.
(...assumably; after all, we don't really see him die; wouldn't be unusual that a jedi master survives a fall...)
Madine is corellian.
Madine dies about year 13. His dead would seem to be somehow connected to the Darksaber.
A story says that Madine would have originally been in Imperial troops and defected later.
Altought Mara was in very high position in Empire before the battle of Endor, she has later been quite neutral about the war and working only for herself and some smuglerfriends of hers including Talon Karrde. With Karrde she does get quite involved.
She did want to kill Luke Skywalker, because he had (with his father, as we know) killed emperor, but that was in the end only obsession created by Palpatine at his moment of death. That disappeared when she killed Luke's clone (see Joruus C'baoth).
Makes herself better known about year 9 in the novels of Timothy Zahn, so her adventures happen few years after SW6:RotJ.
Even later Mara goes to Yavin IV to study with Luke.
Mara Jade often flies a z-95 Headhunter.
I read somewhere Mara Jade would be seen in game "Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight", propably in data disk, whatever that was called.
Maul is a zabrak.
The ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs. Has outrun Imperial starships, not the local bulk-cruisers, mind you. I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now. She's the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.
I don't know much anything special about her. Falcon has been property of Han Solo or Lando Calrissian as far as I know. Chewbacca is often seen as first mate of Falcon. I have no knollege about who build it or when.
The biggest achievement of Millennium Falcon is destroying the second Death Star (seen in picture above) with some assistance from a X-wing flown by Wedge Antilles.
Ithorians are often called hammerheads (thought they themselves consider it offensive). So, Nadon is that lightbrown, flatheaded creature seen just momentarily.
Mon Mothma was born at -48 on Chandrila and was a senator during the Old Republic before the Empire.
She was one of the leaders of whole wide Rebel Alliance and after battle of Yavin she became autocrat.
Mon Mothma continues to be leader of the New Republic at least to year 11.
Mos Eisley Spaceport. You will never find a more
wretched hive of scum and villainy.
(- Ben Kenobi)
The spaceport of Tatooine. Best known detail about it is (I'd say) the Cantina (see novel "Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina").
Well, you know the place from the movie. In this part, Special Edition is highly recommended.
See Momaw Nadon.
In older versions (including book and comic versions of Episode IV) it was not Motti but Tagge, whose lack of faith Vader found disturbing.
I have a problem about this character. In the credits he is called General Motti, but elsewere in script he's known as Admiral Motti. I'm not sure about his rank.
Some friends of Shug are Salla Zend, Lo Khan and Uz Bone Arm.
The Republic was founded about 25000 years ago and it was the first galaxy-wide government. It was made possible by the invention of hyperdrive.
For more info see jedi.
See also Bib Fortuna.
Leia's fosterfather was senator Bail Organa, a major leader in
Rebellion, who died in destruction of Alderaan.
His wife was
the minister of education of Alderaan.
See Leia for more info.
In Episodes I-III he also appeares as "mysterious" Lord Sidious.
Emperor knew jedi knights to be his worst enemy and had them hunted and killed. Only few survived, but as we well know, enough.
Wisely emperor never really trusted his right hand man
Darth Vader.
(Actually, is
right hand man at all suitable expression in this story?)
Yet, Palpatine did a fatal mistake about him, as we know.
But what many of you don't know is that Palpatine didn't die at Endor. Well, actually he did, but he was able to move his consciousness to a clone body. About year 10 he returned and united the scattered imperial forces again. Those days empire created the Wolrd Devastators, that were destroyed by R2-D2 and Luke, who almost ended to become like Vader doing this. Leia saved him and with her help Luke won Palpatine. He didn't die yet in this battle, but came back (at least) once more and organized building of the Galaxy Gun. I don't know the whole story, but we can say that Palpatine was won because his obsession to get Skywalkers turned to dark side.
One interesting detail about Palpatine is a planet called Wayland. It was his personal cache, where he had among other things some clonetechnology.
For more data see all links on this page (especially Endor), New Order, Mara Jade, New Republic, all the movies and "Dark Empire I & II" and "Empires End" by Dark Horse Comics.
Unless you knew, Kenny Baker perfoms also as R2-D2.
R2-units are used in some fighters including X-wing. They have also multiple other uses like storaging data or communicating with computers. They often have some extra "arms" for special purposes.
Picture says it all, huh? R2-D2 the brave little astromech droid met Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi in Episode IV on way well-known to us all (if not, go see the movie before comming to this page again). Along the story, this droid has carried the technical data of Death Star vital to Rebellion, been captured by jawas, taken Luke to Obi-Wan, saven Luke, Han and Leia from getting crushed, gotten shot by Darth Vader, fallen to swamp, argued with Yoda, been raised in air using the Force, had important role in rescuing Han Solo from Jabba, been captured by ewoks, gotten shot and done generally helluva lot beeping and talking to several computers. He's often been together with protocol droid C-3PO.
In comic release "Dark Empire I" C-3PO says once that Artoos main programming has been erased, but later it appears to be OK. On that story R2-D2 had in it the most important data ever since Episode IV.
In Episode VI Kenny Baker is also seen in role of Paploo.
Rebellion against the evil Galactic Empire. That's what this whole thing is about.
The first stirrings of rebellion begun about -20 when jedi knights were hunted. The rest is history.
Before Episode IV alliance was under command of three
persons:
Mon Mothma, senator Bail
Organa and general Garm Bel Iblis.
After the battle of Endor
rebel alliance
turns into the New
Republic with Mon Mothma
as its highest leader.
Important rebel persons are
admiral Ackbar, general
Rieekan, general Madine
and of course all well-known heroes:
Luke, Leia,
Han, Lando,
Chewie, Wedge Antilles,
Ben Kenobi and of course
the droids
R2-D2 and C-3PO.
A few rebel heroes of later times (after Episode VI)
are:
Kam Solusar, Jem and Rayf
Ysanna, Salla
Zend
and Shug Ninx. Also
Mara Jade is now
and then quite helpful to
New Republic.
Some rebel bases mentioned along the story are:
Dantooine, Alderaan(?),
Yavin IV and Hoth.
Ships often used by rebels:
X-wing, Y-wing,
A-wing, E-wing,
Corellian corvette (aka
rebel blockade
runner), Nebulon B -frigatte (see below) and
Calamari cruiser.
The weapon of sandpeople is called gaderffii.
The one seen in movie nests in pit of Carkoon at Dune Sea (see Tatooine).
Interesting detail: Sarlacc did not get Boba Fett eaten or even killed.
Dies in episode II in sandpeople's captivity.
Earliest signs about Sith are timed about -5000. At the time Naga Sadow ruled as dark lord. I'm assuming he was defeated and took Sith to hide in Yavin IV (propably not a coinsidence).
Another Sith leader was Freedon Nadd, who acted a millennium later in place called Onderon. He was fallowed by Exar Kun, who I assume to be somehow responsible of the Sith War and destruction of the Cron system.
Of course the best-known Dark Lord is no other then Darth Vader himself. I don't know if his mask is any traditional Sith mark or just a personal thing. Perhaps Episode III tells something.
Can't tell if Darth Maul or Palpatine could be considered a Dark Lord.
Planet Ossus was destroyed in Sith war. For more info compare also Jedi and find yourself comic releases "Sith War", "Dark Lords of Sith", "Freedon Nadd Uprising" and "Tales of the Jedi(: Golden Age of Sith)".
His wife Padme Amidala died as their children Luke and Leia were born in Episode III. For more info see individual characters.
Originally, in Lucas' earliest scripts, the name was Starkiller.
More about Solo kids is found out in "Young Jedi Knigths" -novels.
For details see novel "Truce of Bakura".
Come on, you know them, the big ships of Empire.
I really don't know anything special about them.
You can get some detail of Vader's Super Star
Destroyer in A-wing
and Endor.
That ship has sometimes been called the "Executor".
Nien Nunb is (propably) sullustan.
In X-wing games Tour of Duty I the missions involving Sullustans are TOD I:s pain in the butt. Their plot however tells how Sullust joins Rebellion.
The story of Sun Crusher:
Designed and build by empire, stolen by
Han Solo and Kyp Durron, thrown into
depths of planet Yavin, and
finally retrieved from there by
Kyp with help of Exar
Kun. He uses it to destroy imperial military academy in Carida.
In the end Sun Crusher falls to the black holes of Maw.
For more info see "Tales of the Jedi" -comics.
In some comics I've seen a couple members of Tagge family. I'm not sure if general is related to these people.
The highest imperial officer. Movie makes me assume Tarkin is at least in some ranking more powerful then even Vader (thought Vader is closer to Emperor). He is the person responsible of destruction of Alderaan. Tarkin dies in the destruction of Death Star, because he makes the fatal error of underestimating rebels chances.
A little known fact is that Tarkin actually was the one who started the Death Star project. He introduced to Emperor the idea of a superior weapon, indestructable, powerful, invincible. That was also what he gained the "Grand" from. Another later product of the same project was the Sun Crusher.
Tarkin had an affair with admiral Daala.
In a Star Wars comic story timed between episodes V and VI there was also an ion cannon (I assume) almost as powerful as Death Star that was named Tarkin. It exploded after Leia had "engineered" its machinery a bit. So, this Tarkin wasn't either much of a friend of Leia's.
If I remember correctly, Teebo is also the main character of Ewoks TV animation series. Tought, the animated Teebo looks more like Wicket, so either makers of animation got names mixed up or ewoks get grey, when they grow up and Teebo looked like Wicket in his age. I mean, they are quite propably relatives, it's a small village.
Curious detail about Jack Purvis: In Episode IV he was in part of Chief Jawa. In Episode V he was in part of Chief Ugnaught. So, Jack Purvis is possibly the only person, or at least the most important, who was in all three movies everytime as different character.
He is a character quite similar to
Grand Moff Tarkin. A brilliant
tactician, capable to outsmart even best rebel commanders
like general Garm Bel
Iblis and admiral
Ackbar.
Thrawns way of estimating enemy movements was based on
studying races arts. He tried (with good success) to
understand the basic mentalities of his enemy. His
only mistake, small but fatal, was that he never realized
noghrs to be his enemies.
Is killed by his noghr-bodyguard Rukh at year 9.
(Noghrs are a people empire cheated to serve it. Their sudden rebelling was completely unexpected to Thrawn.)
Thrawn was seen as a vice admiral in TIE Fighter.
"Thrawn-trilogy" are books Heir to the Empire, Dark Fore Rising and The Last Command by Timothy Zahn.
Actually, "tibanna" isn't name of the place, it's the name of the gastype. I'm not quite sure what tibanna gas is used, but it would seem to have something to do with ships.
For curiosity check Teebo.
Husband of Padme Amidala, father of Luke and Leia. Was born about year -40 and died 4 in Episode VI. A dark lord of Sith.
Some of his childhood Anakin lived with his mother Shmi in
Tatooine as slave.
Force was very strong with him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi saw this
and believed he could train Anakin to become a
jedi knight. Unfortunately
to whole galaxy, he
failed and Anakin turned to dark side becoming finaly the
dark lord.
In Episode II count Dooku cut Anakin's arm off.
In Episode III Obi-Wan cut Anakin's legs off.
As dark lord of Sith Anakin used the name of Darth Vader.
During the (old) movies Vader kills Obi-Wan and several rebel pilots including Biggs. He also kills imperial officers admiral Ozzel and captain Needa and cuts Luke's hand off and carbonitefreezes Han Solo (talking about problems with father-in-law).
As well-known, Anakin died in battle of Endor year 4 and as his last deed he abandoned the dark side and killed his master Palpatine saving Luke. He was possibly the first person ever to be saved from the dark side (as Yoda says: "If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny"). And so he joint the ancient jedi knights in the Force.
In comic release "Dark Empire" (part 6/6) resurrected
Emperor says this about
Anakin: "Great Darth Vader was a sick man in
ironmask. That mask
spread terror around the galaxy...but the weak
heart behind it was
controlled by the frail side of the Force." (This
was my own
translation, not the original text. Boldings are not my
ideas, they are in
comics text.)
This makes me wonder if Vader's little
failiars during the
story were accidents. Like, how come he trashes almost
all other pilots he
hunts in battle of Yavin (except
Wedge) but in Luke's ship he only
hits
Artoo. I
mean that altought he didn't know this was his son, he
felt Force to be
strong with him. Perhaps Vader saw that he was to become
a jedi and deep in
his darkness hoped someone to save him.
And what about
Vader all the time
killing imperial officers for every smallest mistake.
That's no way to fight
a war, if you want to win. And was it not Vader,
who had the tought
to try making Luke an ally of him and Emperor, instead of
killing him?
Besides, as Luke says, Vader couldn't kill him in
Cloud City. Each of us can make
our own conclutions
of these facts.
I have one more thougth about this
subject. Vader stopped
Luke to kill Emperor. But maybe he didn't do it to save
his master. Perhaps
he did it to save Luke from his own anger and the dark
side of the Force.
After all, Palpatine couldn't been killed that easily.
Maybe Anakin Skywalker behind the mask was more of a hero then we ever noticed.
For more about Anakin/Vader see about half of all Star Wars material available. Curiour details are Vjun and Skywalker.
Vima trained (for a little time) Kyp Durron.
He's the ugly blue flying thing.
First a few words about the classic game. It may be old, but it's still as atractive as when I first saw it (which isn't awfully lot, actually). Besides, the tradition still lives in TIE-fighter and X-wing vs TIE-fighter. Tought, I personally prefer Wing Commanders (well you can't expect me to consider game the best there is just because the plot is about the fabulous Star Wars). Many of pictures seen on these pages are taken from the game.
I suppose you're quite familiar with this ship.
Planet Yavin is an orange gasgiant. The important place here is the 4th moon of this planet. On Yavin IV is the rebel headquarters seen in the end of Episode IV (picture above).
At year 11 Luke Skywalker establishes Jedi Academy on Yavin IV.
Long ago a civilization called Massassi lived in Yavin IV. The buildings seen are theirs. What happened to this people remains unknown (to me alteast).
For more info see Sith and Exar Kun.
So, Yoda is a little green man. I don't actually know what he exactly is. We can only assume he is not a human. I don't consider even this certain. After all, do we know what a human looks like in age of 900 years, if he's kept alive on power of Force?
Yoda may have been excellent teacher (after all, he did train jedi for eight hundred years) and strong with Force, but he wasn't so extremely smart after all. I mean, he told Luke to sacrifice Han and Leia, which in the end would have doomed the galaxy's future. Also, Yoda wasn't able to feel the little good still left inside Darth Vader. And he's mistaken in a couple other things too. Yoda said: "If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." As Vader (and later also Luke) show this old jedi belief to be wrong. Another mistake by Yoda is comment "Only a fully trained Jedi Knight with the Force as his ally will conquer Vader and his Emperor". As said, Yoda was wrong about Vader and, well, Anakin didn't really use Force even to protect himself. All he needed was two hands. Well, actually it was more like one and a half.
There really isn't much more to tell about him (as far as I know). For more info you could try a novel called "Mission from Mount Yoda" (I'm not sure if it's got anything to do with Yoda himself actually) or computer game called "Yoda Stories" (featuring pumpkin-headed guy as Luke Skywalker).
The ysannas are shamans. They use the Force to guide their arrows (they have some sort of airpressurebows) and as a group or some best of them can also use Force a bit like Emperor does to Luke in the end of SW6:RotJ. Their ancestors were propably jedis, who came to Ossus after the Sith war about 4000 years ago.
Jem Ysanna and Luke were quite attached to each other. Tragidly, Jem dies in a fight against dark jedis of Palpatine about 10.
A rebel bomber. Heavier armor, shields and firepower then A-wing or X-wing. This ship is planned to fight with targets bigger the TIE-fighters. On battles seen in movies Y-wing is a quite unsuccessful vessel, but we must not judge it by just that because in many other stories great heroics are done on it.
Also, y-wing is on of the ships flown in classic game X-wing.
See also Luke, theres a list of Star Wars -novels in the end.
This is all true fact.
