So you want to play at the Tomb...

Then first there are a few things you need to know. First and foremost, this isn't roleplaying exactly, but a story. One person begins a story with a single post at the club message board, and we go from there. The stories we write in the Tomb are set in Krynn, and based soley on Dragonlance. Now, having said that, I would like to go over a few of the rules we all abide by.

1) When posting, please write in the third person and past tense as you would read in a book.

2) Please limit your characters to races found in Dragonlance, either in a sourcebook or a novel.

3) Please limit the number of characters you play to 2. If you wish to write a story solo, feel free to do so, just not at the Tomb. This rule does not apply to the founders as we have to keep the story going, which usually requires a few NPC's (non-player characters)

4) When choosing a character, please keep in mind the timeline...ie...no Knights of Takhisis running around before the bloody cataclysm. (you get the drift)

5) While writing, please be aware that there is usually a "main plot" (though sometimes we don't stumble across it until the story is halfway over) that we should all try and follow. Usually the "main plot" is quite obvious, and works to bring everyone's subplots together. Subplots are great, they develop your character(s), but please don't let your subplots take away from the "main plot".

6) It's never okay to kill another player's character without their permission. Doing this will have negative effects like really ticking that person off, and being permanently deleted from the club. We can do that, but we usually don't have to as everyone plays by the rules.

7) Plot devices like time-travelling and alternate universes...etc... are not allowed. We've discussed doing that before, and it is usually rejected for one reason or another. Please do not make a time-travelling mage bent of changing the timeline.

8) And speaking of time-travelling mages bent on changing the timeline...please do not bring any characters from any published Dragonlance novel (ie...Raistlin, Caramon, Magius, Fistandantilus...etc..) into your writing. We really don't want to have our club shut down for stepping on anyone's toes, not to mention that most of the writers tend to get annoyed when that happens.

9) Please focus on your character only. In the past we had problems with writers taking liberty with other characters. That is not to say that you cannot interreact with other characters while posting, but please do not do anything drastic with any character but your own.

10) If you have any major plot-altering posts that will throw the story for a major loop, you must alert a founder of your post before you post it. I'm really talking about posts such as "and then an undead dragon suddenly appeared from nowhere for no good reason and attacked the unsuspecting party of heroes"...you get the idea. We know you guys want action, and we will endeavor to provide it.

So there you have it. Still want to play? Then feel free to head to the Tomb and read up on the current story. Or, email one of the founders for a recap. Also, before posting, please submit your character to the founders to get your character approved.
