Tomball Cougar Baseball has been recognized as the Channel 55 Sports Team of the week.   The Cougar's are 18-4, and 10-1 in District 15-5A, which is one of the toughest districts in the country, much less the state.  Two of the last four 5A champions have come from the district.  In 1998 Klein won it all, as did The Woodlands in 2000.  Last year Klein made it to Austin as the #3 team from the district.  Right now Tomball is tied with Klein Oak atop the standings.  Oak is ranked #2 in the state, and in the top 15 nationally.  Oak beat Tomball 5-4 in the first round of district play.  The two play again on the final day of the season @ Klein Oak on April 26th.   As for being named team of the week, the show will air Friday night at 11:00 P.M., and again at 11:00 A.M. Saturday morning.  Channel 55 is a Houston channel that can  be picked up on Direct TV, Cable, or local antenna. 
     Along with the team of the week honors, outfielder Brian Edwards has been named scholar athlete of the week.  Brian has earned a starting job for the baseball team, as well as the football team, while maintaining near perfect grades.  Congratulations Brian.
