Surgery for Sagittal Craniosynostosis

I created this web page to provide information regarding surgical options for the treatment of craniosynostosis (involving the sagittal suture) and scaphocephaly.  Specifically, I wanted to provide information on a newer, less invasive surgical treatment that is performed at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC by surgeon Dr. Lisa David. The procedure is called
"spring-mediated cranioplasty" and is one of several surgical options available for the correction of scaphocephaly.
When my daughter was diagnosed with sagittal craniosynostosis I began searching feverishly on the internet for any kind of info. I could find.  Initially, I found gruesome-looking pictures of a surgical technique called CVR (cranial vault reconstruction) which totally upset me.  Then I came across some discussion of a less invasive laproscopic technique for correction, but found that although it's less invasive, it's still not without its own set of problems.
Just by chance, I came across a technique called spring-mediated cranioplasty that seemed like an approach that I needed to check into.  There was almost nothing on the internet about this technique and, at the time, noone on the CAPPS board had heard of it.  Since Wake Forest University Medical School and Baptist Hospital have such a good reputation, and they're only a few hours drive from where we live, I knew I needed to gather more info. on this technique.
Our little girl had this surgery on August 11 and everything is going well so far.
I intend to refine this website and post info. as our little girl goes through the process of correction for her scaphocephaly.
At this time, please follow my link to WFUBMC or drop me an e-mail for more info. on this technique.
