Cold Mountain,  NBC's mini-series Gore Vidal's Lincoln  and TNT's The Day Lincoln was Shot.  Hear fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about the making of classic Civil War movies, Sommersby and God's and General  both  filmed throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.     

Visit three of Virginia's premiere Civil War Parks, including: The Richmond National Battlefield Park Civil War Visitor's Center at Tredegar Iron Works, Petersburg National Battlefield and Pamplin Historical  Park and National Museum of the Civil War Soldier.

The Richmond National Battlefield Park Civil War Visitor's Center at Tredegar Iron Works
Learn about the notorious Union prisoner of war camp. Visit the restored iron works factory that produced over 1100 cannon for the Confederate forces and 90 percent of the South's artillery ammunition. Explore three floors of exhibits of Civil War artifacts. Take photos of  the beautiful life-size bronze sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and his son, Tad, that commemorates the historic, but little known, visit that the 16th president made to Richmond on April 4, 1865.

Historic Church Hill: View the oldest intact neighborhood in Richmond that contains the most antebellum structures in the city where many historic homes where used in the movies.

Monument Avenue: Enjoy a drive down beautiful Monument Avenue, known for its magnificent  homes and Civil War monuments, including: General Robert E. Lee, General Stonewall Jackson,  President of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis and Major General J.E.B. Stuart among others. Considered one of America's most beautiful tree-lined boulevards, it has the honor of being the only street in the United States that is a National Historic Landmark.

Historic Empire Theatre: See the historical theatre, host to theatrical luminaries Mary Pickford, Kit Carson and others, that was transformed into Ford's Theatre.

Virginia State Capitol: Visit the stately Virginia State Capitol, designed by Thomas Jefferson, which stood for more than two hundred years as the active seat of Virginia's government. View the George Washington Equestrian monument, where President Lincoln gave an impromptu speech at the close of the Civil War, during his visit to Richmond, plus much more.

Pamplin Historical Park and National Museum of the Civil War Solider: Enjoy an included lunch and the rest of your afternoon at Pamplin Historical Park. Considered America's premier Civil War Park, it offers the perfect combination of high-tech museums and hands-on Civil War experiences. Test your knowledge of the Civil War through  interactive computer games. Pay a visit to a wartime plantation, reflecting both civilian tastes and those of a  wartime occupant. Explore a recreated military encampment and watch troops go through a rifle drill or demonstrate the firing of a Civil War cannon.
