TO MY BEAUTIFUL
DAUGHTERS
SHELLI AND CATHIE---
THIS WEBPAGE IS DEDICATED TO BOTH OF YOU.

TO BE A MOM IS WONDERFUL,
BELIEVE ME, THIS IS TRUE.
ESPECIALLY TO BE THE MOM
OF DAUGHTERS JUST LIKE YOU.
DAUGHTERS WHO HELPED MAKE ME
WHAT I AM TODAY,
DAUGHTERS VERY SPECIAL
IN EACH AND EVERY WAY.
AND KNOWING I HELPED MOLD YOU
MAKES ME VERY PROUD.
BECAUSE BELIEVE ME, SWEETHEART-
YOU STAND OUT AMONG THE CROWD.
DON'T CHANGE A THING ABOUT YOU
YOU'RE PERFECT AS YOU ARE.
AND WITH YOUR CHARM AND CHARACTER
I KNOW THAT YOU'LL BOTH GO FAR.

The following are from the book,
"For My Daughter", by Evelyn Borthwick.

You're up and off and crawling
It's fun to watch you go.
Discovering all those new things,
It's just as if you know,
That this is part of growing
And learning while you play,
Whilst getting rid of obstacles
That dare get in your way!
You're really quite determined,
I can see it in your face.
You grab and pull and push things
And knock them from their place.
And when you get frustrated,
You cry and often pout,
And look at me as if to say,
"Please Mommy, help me out!"

With great anticipation,
And very little sleep,
I'm so very nervous,
As I have a little weep.
I feel a little stupid.
I feel like such a fool!
But try to understand because
It's your first day of school!
"Oh, please let her enjoy it,"
I say my silent prayer.
"And let her day be special,
Without me being there.
Please let this day be pleasant,
'Cause I'm feeling so much pain,
And let this day go quickly
So "I'll have her home again."

I remember the first time
You simply said, "No!"
I couldn't believe it,
You upset me so,
You needed to make it
Perfectly clear,
That this was your right,
I had nothing to fear.
And you were a person
With a mind of your own.
And I was a grown-up,
I should have known.
For this was my teaching
How could it be wrong?
It's all part of growing,
And making you strong.

For You, My Child,
As You Go Out Into
The World

Take your bright intelligence, your boundless energy, your brave spirit, your creativity, and your vast imagination. Pack all the beautiful things that make you the individual I love so Much.

The people you meet in your new world and the things you see may challenge your faith, the things you believe, and the way you were taught. But if you stay true to yourself, you will meet these challenges. You will feel proud and free, and be happy, healthy, and successful.

On your journey, use your bright mind to fight wrong and dangerous ideas. Use your energy to get involved in whatever is positive and healthy. Defend your ideals. Use your creativity. See yourself doing great things, then use your imagination to help you plan how to make those dreams come true.

Take along your sunny smile, Your relaxed and happy laughter, and the attitude that you are a beautiful person with the power to be true to yourself.

THE WONDER OF
LITTLE GIRLS

Phyllis Hobe

When a little girl says, "I love you,"
it's impossible to find
anything wrong with the world.

A little girl dressed up in her mother's clothes
is a preview of coming attractions.

The sight of little girls selling lemonade
can bring traffic to a halt.

Very few things in life
hurt as much as a little girl's skinned knee!

Little girls are very good at telling the truth--
as they see it.

You'll know a little girl is growing up
when she wants to fix her own hair;
when she says she'll read to you at bedtime,
when she doesn't want you to hold her hand crossing the street,
and doesn't want you to come into her room--
except during thunderstorms!

Little girls aren't afraid of the dark--
it's their dolls who like to sleep with the lights on.

A little girl can tell you she loves you without saying a word...
just by wanting to be with you.

There isn't a nicer gift
than a little girl bringing you breakfast in bed.

There is nothing that can restore you to happiness
faster than a little girl's arms around your neck.

As this page comes to a closing
this last poem means the most to me.
Shelli, Cathie, I do hope you enjoyed this page,
dedicated to the two most important people in my life.
In closing, remember that
I WILL ALWAYS STAND BY YOU.
I love you both,
Mom

I Will Always
Stand By You

You are older now and
making choices of your own -
some I understand but don't agree with

But they are your choices
and I stand with you as you make them
because you are my child

Today's world is complicated -
much more so than when I was your age -
and even when my choices
were not always the wisest
so I know how difficult it can sometimes be

I salute you
for making decisions and standing by them
I am proud and confident that they are
the very best for you

I am proud of you -
a person of conviction
when the answers don't come easily
a person of strength
when others refuse to believe in you
a person of towering integrity
when you are forced to stand
in the world alone

With each new difficult choice
that you are forced to make
I want you to know
that though I may not understand
or even though I may not fully agree
I will always stand by you
and your decisions
because you are my child

But also
because you are a very special person
who knows your own heart
and follows its beat
to wherever it will take you

I love you
and am proud to say
"That's my child!"
