Friends and Foes

"Gold Flame" Syndicate

Little is known about this criminal organization, save that they thrive on spreading terror and disrupting the order of the world.  Its leaders have yet to be discovered, and no major hideouts are known.  The UN Special Defense Forces' Team Alpha is responsible for combatting Syndicate.

Gabriel von Falconne

Supposedly a wealthy aristocrat from Europe, von Falconne is heavily involved in the operations of the Syndicate, and serves as one of its field commanders.   He considers himself to be quite the gentleman, and for that reason is rather charming with the ladies.  In combat, he fights extremely well, obviously an expert swordsman.  He always fights fair, and knows when to retreat.

Von Falconne has developed quite a rivalry with Scott, whom he has battled against twice.  Being of similar stock: cool, composed, and dangerous, each silently seeks to over come the other, though neither would admit it.

Emanuel Constantine

As another officer within Syndicate, Constantine has quite a rivalry with von Falconne.  The two rarely get along, though Constantine is far more difficult to deal with.  In battle he is a bit more ruthless, he fights to win, and will do what is necessary.  He hails from eastern Europe, and has a noticable accent.   His weapon of choice is a bastard sword, which he can use with two hands or with one.  He also conceals several other weapons, and is a master of throwing knives.

Dimitri Marquis

One of the more ruthless members of his organization, Dimitri has a reputation of being  a dangerous killer.  He has evaded police capture many times, and is an expert at staying alive.  Not above using any means to protect himself, Dimitri has earned the scorn of many of his fellow Gold Flame comrades, who disagree with his tactics.  For those reasons, he is often kept within sight by those he works with, for fear that he will stab them all in the back.

"Circle of Nine"

These nine mysterious figures are the leaders of the Gold Flame Syndicate and have absolute control of all operations worldwide.  While their motives are unclear, the US Government suspects that their goal is as simple as absolute world control, or as a reasonable alternative- total anarchy.  Very few of their own operatives have met any member of this group, and no one is known to have met all nine of them.

Megatech Corporation

Megatech Corp is the top developer and manufacturer of civilian and military use cybernetics and service machinery.  In the late 20th century, they introduced the first fully military combat mecha, and followed last than a year later with a construction model.  Their machinery revolutionized contruction and maintanence work, earned millions of dollars, and also put a lot of people out of work.   Currently they are developing a fully functional human cyborg to be used in service work.

Team Alpha

Team Alpha is the elite anti-terrorist division of the International Police Organization.  They are fighting a losing battle against Gold Flame, and various other criminal factions.

Mark Winters

Mark is Joe's older brother by five years, who joined the Navy after graduating from school, and eventually became a police officer.  Due to his excellent record, he was selected for the Los Angeles division of Interpol, and eventually assigned to Team Alpha.  He has been married for about a year to his long time girlfriend, Amanda.

Jay Lee

A UN Special Task Force coordinator, he was station operative for the now disbanded UN Special Task Force.  His former comrades, Cmdr. David Hoshino, Lt. Lance Andrews, Lt. Gena Servin, Lt. Momo Mariko, and Major Troy Stockton were all supposedly killed in an alien attack on the city several years back.  He is also an accomplished concert violinist, seated first chair in the Los Angeles Philharmonic.   He has the same teacher as Sonia Ichijo.

Other Characters

Myung Chen

Sonia Ichijo's third housemate, a perky young woman who thinks she's engaged to Kei.  She is generally airheaded and unsuspecting, but always pleasant and helpful, for what it's worth.  Myung is a talented martial artist in her own right, and her father was Kei's instructor.
