Car Shows and Other Events
These Pictures were taken at the 2002 "Ma Haney Days" car show at the Macon County Drive In Theater in Lafayette, TN.  It was a very small and unorganized car show this year.  The guy who had been running the show for the past three years didn't want to do it this year so a new guy decided to do the show.  He had never done a car show before and only came up with three classes....Cars,  Trucks and unfinished.  Of course I didn't win anything but I did get lots of compliments.
It is amazing to me the number of people who have no idea what this car is.  Several teen aged kids came by and looked.  I usually got coments like..."Wow, cool car....what is it?" and "How much will you take fer it?".

Unfortunately, Mrs. Haney passed away late in the fall of 2002.  I hope the drive-in stays around.  Drive-in Theatres seem to be disapearing all over the country.  In the past two years I can think of three that have closed down in the middle Tennessee area....just one more piece of Americana that is falling by the wayside.

(Oh yeah, I forgot...they also had a "beauty pagent" in the middle of the day and a dunking booth sponsored by the local high school cheerleaders. I love America)

The pictures below were taken by my aunt at the Lafayette, TN Christmas parade.  They seem a little blurry because they are scanned from 35 mm Photos.  I had a really good place in the parade behind the 1/4 scale Nascar go-carts.  They were big crowds beside the parade route.  I got lots of compliments on the car and saw lots of people looking puzzled at why I had restored "that old thang".  I had a good day until the Malibu overheated from driving 5 miles an hour for three hours.  I may drive my Buick in the Parader next year instead unless I get the engine work done on the Malibu before next years parade.
