While in grade school, Thia began her musical education by taking on such instruments as the violin and guitar.  In 1989, she sang for her high school choir at the Kiwanis Music Festival in Halifax, which took home a first place honor.  In 2000, Thia decided to test her musical abilities and entered a talent contest dubbed, “The Mini Apollo”, at the Marquee Club in Halifax, which was hosted by Jamie Sparks.  The audience was tough to impress that evening, but Thia gained a loud applause after her powerful rendition of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”.  In 2001, after joining MIANS, she met Jon M. with whom she performed backup vocals for two tracks on his 3rd CD; this performance was video taped live by CBC at Staynor’s Wharf Restaurant in Halifax.  In early spring of 2003, she performed backup vocals with another local artist opening for ANSMA nominee, Universal Soul, at the Marquee Club and again at the Attic.

In the summer of 2003, she met Lindsay Drummond, a well - known local producer, and began recording tracks for her debut album.  From this, Thia was nominated in two categories (Best New Artist and World Music), and also performed for, the African Nova Scotian Music Association Award Show held in the fall of 2003.  From this nomination, Thia had her first interview with Shauntay Grant, which was featured on the CBC RADIO early morning show that aired February 15th, 2003.

During her short career, Thia has worked and shared the stage with such artists as Dutch Robinson, Gary Beals, Afro Musica, Farley Flex, and Shauntay Grant.  Now with the completion of her demo, Thia has showcased her own material as a solo artist at various clubs within Halifax.

In January of 2004 Thia begins her full CD with producer Lyndsay Drummond, along with some very talented musicians, audio engineers, and producers.

Thia Maranos
As goes the music, so goes the singer – sexy, passionate, clean, and fun.  Thia Maranos’ music is a unique blend of Latin Soul, R&B, and Pop.  Inspired by a wide range of artists from Donna Summer, En Vogue, to Gloria Estefan.

Like most artists starting out, Thia began at a very young age – first singing to her stuffed animals then moved on to a more responsive audience singing with the local church choir.
Thia’s music moves the feet and the soul – from the infectious “Dance with Me”; her somber and reflective ballad, “Wherever I Go”, to the hard-hitting R&B flavored, “Without You”.  Thia Maranos has arrived, and she is ready to take her place among the stars.
