MY FAVORITE FOOD

For many of us, finding our favorite food is difficult because the list is long. Food in the United States is plentiful and using different recipes is common place. Hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, pizza, and sub sandwiches often garnish the plates of many teenagers. However, we need to remember that we should follow the Food Guide Pyramid for eating a healthy diet and increase our chances for a long and productive life.

You will notice from the Pyramid that there are six major food groups from which to choose:

  1. Bread, Cereal, Rice, and Pasta
  2. Vegetable
  3. Fruit
  4. Milk, Yogurt, and Cheese
  5. Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs, and Nuts
  6. Fats, Oils, and Sweets

One may choose from a long list of fruits. You should eat two to four servings daily of fruit. Please click on your favorite fruit to find its characteristics:

    Some terms you should know:

    Antipasto

A traditional Italian meal (e.g. Chicken Cacciatore) in which vegetables are cooked in a hearty sauce with meat.
    Biscotti
