Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) noticed that when a slave of ours, called Aflah, was prostrating, he used to blow off (dust from the place of prostration). Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: Aflah! Besmear your face with dust.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whenever a person recites one letter from the Book of Allah, one good deed is recorded for him. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but A is a letter L is a letter and M is a letter.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: When anyone of you breaks wind while observing jalsah (the sitting posture) at the end of his prayer before concluding it with Taslim, his prayer remains valid.

Transmitted by Tirmidhi and he said: This is a hadith the chain of transmission of which is not sound and there is some confusion in its chain of transmission.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1009        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) set out for prayer and as he recited AllahuAkbar, he suspended the prayer and going back made a gesture to them (the followers in prayer) to remain where they had been. He then left (the mosque), took a bath, then came back and the water was dripping from his head. He led them in prayer. As he concluded the prayer, he said: I was a junub and I forgot to take a bath.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) led them in prayer and forgot something. So he observed two (extra) prostrations (as compensation), then recited Tashahhud and then observed salutations.

Tirmidhi transmitted it and he said: This is a hasan gharib hadith.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek protection against the Jinn and the evil eye till surahs al-Falaq and an-Nas were revealed. After they were revealed he stuck to them and discarded everything beside them.

I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: He who experiences doubt, while praying, that he has observed less (than the required rak'ahs), should continue to observe prayer till he starts doubting about an excess.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1036        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas

A man came to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and said: Allah's Messenger, as I was asleep, I saw during the night (in a dream) that I was praying behind a tree. I observed sajdah and so did the tree, prostrating like my prostration. I heard it say: O Allah record for me a reward for it with Thee, remove from me a burden for it, make for me a treasure with Thee and accept it (prostration) as Thou accepted it (prostration) from Thy servant, Dawud. Ibn Abbas said: Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) then recited a verse which necessitated prostration, observed prostration, and I heard him repeat that which the man had told him about the words of that tree.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1038        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) observed prostration while reciting (Surah) Sad. He also said: Dawud observed this prostration in repentance; we observe it out of gratitude.

AbuDharr said, after he had climbed up on the step of the Ka'bah: He who recognizes me, recognizes me; and he who does not know me then verily I am Jundub. I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: There is no prayer after the dawn prayer till the sun rises, nor after the Asr prayer till the sun sets, except in Mecca, except in Mecca, except in Makkah.

I heard my beloved friend AbulQasim saying: The prayer of a woman who has perfumed herself (to go) to the mosque is not accepted until she has bathed herself (as is done in case of janabah (after sexual intercourse).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When you see a person frequenting the mosque, bear witness to his faith, for Allah, the Lord of honour and glory has said: He alone can service the mosques of Allah who believes in Allah and the Last Day. (9:18)

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Every eye is lustful and when a woman applies perfume and then goes about in an assembly, she is like such and such, i.e. an adulteress.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1073        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Were it not for the fact that there are women and children at home, I should have stood up to observe the night prayer (in congregation) and should have commanded my young men to set fire to the one who are at home (whereas one is able to join the congregational prayer).

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: No one should prevent his family from coming to the mosques. A son of Abdullah ibn Umar said: We would prevent them. Thereupon Abdullah said: I am narrating to you (a command) of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and you (have the audacity) to say (these words). Abdullah (was so annoyed with this) that he did not talk to him till he died.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him)  said: Verily Allah and His angels shower blessings on the first row. They said: Allah's Messenger, what about the second (row? He said: Allah and His angels shower blessings on the first row. They said: Allah's Messenger, what about the second one? Thereupon he said: Verily Allah and His angels shower  blessings on the first row. They said: Allah's Messenger, what about the second one? And Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: On the second (also). Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Straighten your rows, stand shoulder to shoulder, stand close to the end of your brothers, and close up the intervening spaces for Satan penetrates what is between them as does a black kid meaning the young of the goat.

Qays ibn Ubad said: As I was in the front row in the mosque, someone pulled me forcefully from behind, pushed me aside, and stood in my place. By Allah (I was so much disturbed that), I could not understand my prayer. When he had finished (the prayer), he turned out to be Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and he said: Young man, may Allah bring you no harm, this was because of an instruction from Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) that we should stand near him. He then faced Qiblah and said three times: By the Lord of Ka'bah, Ahl al-Aqd have been ruined. Then he said: By Allah I am not at all sad about them but I am worried about those who have led them astray. I said: AbuYa'qub, what do you mean by Ahl al-Aqd? He said: Men of authority.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1121        Narrated byAbdullah ibn As-Sa'ib

The Prophet (peace be upon him) would offer four rak'ahs after the declining of the sun before the noon Prayer and said: This is the hour when the gates of Heaven are opened and I desire that some righteous action on my part should rise to Heaven during this hour.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: There are three people whose prayer does not pass beyond their ears: the runaway slave till he returns; the woman who spends night in a state in which her husband is annoyed with her; and the leader of the people, whom (they do not like).

Tirmidhi transmitted it and said: This is a gharib hadith.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: There are three people whose prayer does not ascend beyond their heads, even to the length of a span: the person who leads people in prayer despite their disapproval; a woman who spends the night (in a state) in which her husband is annoyed with her; and the two brothers who are estranged.

When anyone of you comes to prayer while the Imam is in a posture (in prayer) he must do what the Imam does.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1144        Narrated byAnas ibn Malik

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: He who observes for forty days prayer in congregation for Allah's sake (with single-minded devotion), joining at the time of the first Takbir, two immunities are guaranteed for him: immunity from Hell-Fire and immunity from dissemblance.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1169        Narrated byAbdullah ibn as-Sa'ib

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to observe four rak'ahs (nafl) prayer after the sun had passed the meridian before observing the obligatory rak'ahs of noon prayer. He explained: That is the hour when the gates of Heaven are opened and I desire a good deed of mine to ascend (to Heaven) at that time.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: May Allah have mercy upon a person who observes four rak'ahs (nafl) before Asr (afternoon prayer).

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Idbar an-Nujum (setting of the stars) implies two rak'ahs before (the fard rak'ahs of) the dawn prayer and Idbar-us-Sujud (after prostration) implies two rak'ahs after the sunset prayer.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1177        Narrated byUmar ibn al-Khattab

I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: Four rak'ahs preceding the noon (obligatory rak'ahs) after the sun has passed the meridian are counted equivalent to a similar number in the dawn prayer and there is nothing which does not glorify Allah at that hour. He then recited this: `Their shadows return from the right and left making obeisance to Allah while they are in utter abasement.' (16:48)

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1200        Narrated byAisha

I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): Messenger of Allah, tell me, in case I should realise which night is the Night of Decrees, how should I supplicate in it? He answered: Supplicate: Allah, Thou art Most Forgiving and dost love forgiveness, then do Thou forgive me.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1205        Narrated byAbuDharr

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) observed qiyam (for the night prayer) till it was dawn (and he recited) this verse (again and again): `If Thou chastised them verily they are Thy servants, and if Thou forgivest them Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.' (5:121)

We never wished to see Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) observing the night prayer, but we found him so and whenever we wished to see him asleep we found him asleep.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1209        Narrated byHumayd ibn AbdurRahman ibn Awf.

A person from amongst the companions of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: While I was on a journey along with Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him), I said (to myself): By Allah I must watch Allah's Messenger observing the prayer and see what he does. When he observed Isha prayer and it is (called) atamah, he laid down for a long period during the night. He then got up and looked towards the horizon and said: 'O  our Lord, You have not created this as something vain.' ... and he recited till he reached 'Verily Thou dost not break Thy promise' (3:191-194). Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him)  bent himself towards his bed and took a Miswak from there. He then poured some water into a bowl from a skin vessel beside him and rinsed his mouth. He then again stood up and prayed till I said (to myself): He has in fact observed the prayer (equivalent) to (the time) he slept. He then lay down (for rests till I said: He has slept equivalent to the time for which he observed the prayer. He then got up and he did that which he did for the first time and uttered that which he had uttered before and Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) did that three times before the dawn.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1218        Narrated byRabi'ah ibn Ka'b al-Aslami

I used to spend the night near the apartment of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) and hear him say, as he got up for the Tahajjud prayer: 'Hallowed be the Lord of worlds', for a long time. He would then recite: 'Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him', for a long time.

Transmitted by Nasa'i and Tirmidhi transmitted like it and he said: It is a sahih hasan hadith.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1227        Narrated byAbuUmamah

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Make it a point to observe Tahajjud prayer, for it was the practice of the pious gone before you (and it is the means whereby you can find) nearness to your Lord and (seek) expiation for the sins and (find) prevention from evil.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1228        Narrated byAbuSa'id al-Khudri

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: There are three people upon whom Allah looks with pleasure: the one who rises up during the night to prayer; and those who arrange themselves in rows for prayer; and the people who form themselves in ranks for fighting against the enemy.

Transmitted by Ibn Majah. Baghawi transmitted it in Sharh as-Sunnah.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1229        Narrated byAmr ibn Abasah

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Allah is nearest to His servant in midst of the later part of the night and if you are able to be amongst those who remember Allah at that hour, do so.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1230        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not anticipate Ramadan. Start the fast with observing the new moon and terminate it with observing it. If the sky is overcast let the month run to thirty days.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) was asked: Which supplication is listened to (most readily) by Allah? He replied (one which is made in the) later part of the night, and at the end of the obligatory prayers.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1232        Narrated byAbuMalik Al-Ash'ari ; Ali ibn AbuTalib

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: There is in the Paradise an apartment, the exterior of which can be seen from its interior, and the interior of which can be seen from its exterior. Such apartments have been prepared for those who are polite in talk, provide food (to the needy), fast frequently and observe the Tahajjud prayer when the people are asleep.

Transmitted by Ahmad, Bayhaqi transmitted it in Shu'ab al-Iman. Tirmidhi transmitted something similar from Ali. In his version the words are: He who is sweet in talk.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1233        Narrated byTalhah ibn Ubaydullah

On seeing a new moon, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would supplicate: Allah, do Thou cause the appearance of this moon to be a harbinger of peace, faith, security and Islam for us. Thy Lord, O moon, and mine is Allah. May this be a moon presaging guidance and good.

I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: David (may the peace of Allah be upon him) had an hour in the night in which he would awaken his family and say: O family of David, wake up and pray for it is the hour when Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, readily responds to the supplication except that of a sorcerer or a tax-collector,

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1237        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

A man came to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and said: So and so observes the prayer at night and when it is morning he commits theft. Whereupon he remarked: (If it is correct) what you state that would soon restrain him (from doing so).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah, the Lord of honour and glory, says: Of My servants I love most those who are foremost in breaking their fasts.

I heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) saying: He who comes to his bed in a state of purity and then remembers Allah till drowsiness overtakes him, does not turn round at any time during the night and asks Allah at that time for some of the good of this world and that of the Hereafter, Allah will grant that to him.

Nawawi mentioned it in Kitab al-Adhkar by the transmission of Ibn as-Sunni.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1251        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Our Lord is pleased with two men: One man who gets up from his bed and his quilt (parting) from his comfort and his wife for prayer. Allah says to His angels: Look at My servant, he got out of bed, his quilt (parting himself) from his comfort and his wife for the sake of prayer with an earnest desire for that which is with Me and out of fear of what is with Me. And a person who fights for the sake of Allah and retreats along with his companions,  knowing what burden is there upon him for this retreat (and what reward is there for him) in returning (to fight). So he returns till his blood is shed and Allah says to the angels: Look at My servant, he returned with (the earnest) desire for that which is with Me, and out of fear of what is with Me till his blood was spilt.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man's deeds are reported on Mondays and Thursdays and I prefer that I should be observing the fast when my deeds are reported.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: He who provides for the breaking of the fast of another earns the same merit as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) visited Umm Umarah and she put some food before him. He asked her to eat also. She said: I am fasting. Thereupon he observed: Angels call down blessings on a person who is fasting when other people eat in his presence till they finish (or till they have eaten their fill.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to observe the three rak'ahs for Witr, reciting nine Surahs from al-Mufassal in the course of them, three in each rak'ah the last of them being: Say: He is Allah One... (112).

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1284        Narrated byUmm Salamah

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to observe two rak'ahs after the Witr.

Transmitted by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, the latter reported an addition: Two light rak'ahs in the state of sitting.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) observed the Witr with one rak'ah. He would then observe two rak'ahs and recite while sitting. As he intended to observe ruku' he would stand up and then observe ruku'.

I missed Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) during the night and found him in al-Baqi'. He said: Were you afraid that Allah and His Messenger would deal unjustly with you? I said: Allah's Messenger, I thought that you had gone to some of your other wives. He (the Prophet) said: Verily Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, comes down to the heaven of the world in the middle night of Sha'ban and forgives sins even more abundant than the hair of the goats of Kalb.

Reported by Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and Razin who added for those who deserve Hell and Tirmidhi said: I heard it from Muhammad (Bukhari) that he deemed it to be a weak hadith.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1302        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

A companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came upon a valley in which there was a spring of sweet water which pleased him greatly. He reflected: I wish I could withdraw from people and settle in this valley; but I shall do it only with the permission of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He mentioned this to the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said to him: Do not do this, for one's standing ready in the cause of Allah is better than his Prayers in his home over seventy years. Would you not wish that Allah should forgive you and admit you to Paradise? Then fight in the cause of Allah. Paradise becomes incumbent for those who fight in the cause of Allah even for the briefest space.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious looks down on the middle night of Sha'ban and forgives all His creation except a polytheist or one who is mushahin (innovator in religion and out of the main stream of the community.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious looks down on the middle night of Sha'ban and forgives all His creation except two people, the mushahin and the murderer.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: When it is the night of Sha'ban observe the prayer during the night and observe the fast during the day for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, descends to the heaven of the world as the sun sets and says: Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone who seeks sustenance so that I may provide for him? Is there anyone in trouble so that I may relieve him, and so on and so forth till the dawn breaks.

Ibn Abbas heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: The Fire will not touch two pairs of eyes: The one that sheds tears out of fear of Allah and the other that keeps watch through the night in the cause of Allah.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: If anyone prays twelve rak'ahs in the forenoon (Salat ad-Duha) Allah will build for him a castle of gold in Paradise.

Transmitted by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib tradition which I know only by this line of transmission."

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone perseveres in praying the two rak'ahs of the forenoon, his sins will be forgiven him, even if they are like the foam of the sea."

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to pray in the forenoon so often that we felt he would never stop doing so; then he would leave off doing so for so long that we felt he would never resume prayer at that time.

AbuBakr heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) say, "No man will commit a sin, then get up and purify himself, then pray, then ask Allah's forgiveness without Allah forgiving him." Then he recited, "And those who, when they do something to be ashamed of, or who wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins."

Tirmidhi transmitted it, but Ibn Majah did not mention the verse.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1326        Narrated byBuraydah ibn al-Hasib

Buraydah told how one morning Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him), called Bilal and said, "What did you do to get to paradise before me? I have never entered paradise without hearing the rustling of your garments in front of me." He replied, "Messenger of Allah, I have never called the Adhan without praying two rak'ahs, and no impurity has ever happened to me without my performing ablution on the spot and thinking that I owed Allah two rak'ahs." Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "It is because of them."

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1327        Narrated byAbdullah ibn AbuAwfa

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone wants something from Allah, or from a human being, he should perform ablution and do it well, then pray two rak'ahs, then extol Allah Most High and invoke blessing on the Prophet, then say: `There is no god but Allah, the Clement and Generous. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the mighty throne. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe. I ask Thee for words which will guarantee Thy mercy, actions which will make certain Thy forgiveness, a supply of every virtue, and freedom from every offence. Do not leave me a sin which Thou dost not pardon, a care which Thou dost not remove, or a want that meets with Thy pleasure which Thou dost not supply, O Most Merciful of the merciful ones.'"

Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, and Tirmidhi said this is a gharib tradition.

The Prophet (peace be upon him and grant him pace) said: A martyr does not suffer when he is slain any more that one of you suffers from being bitten by an ant.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Allah does not listen to a servant of His engaged in anything more excellent than the two rak'ahs which he prays. Kindness is spread over the head of a servant as long as he is engaged in prayer; and men do not draw near to Allah with anything to be compared with what came forth from Him," meaning the Qur'an.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1343        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Umar

When travelling I prayed along with the Prophet (peace be upon him) two rak'ahs at the noon prayer and two after it." In another version he said, "I prayed with the Prophet both when resident and when travelling. When resident I prayed along with him four rak'ahs at the noon prayer and two after it, and when travelling two at it and two after it; two rak'ahs at the afternoon prayer after which he prayed no more; and both when resident and travelling alike three rak'ahs at the sunset prayer, in which he never prayed less whether resident or travelling, this being the witr of the daytime. After it he prayed two rak'ahs.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) established the practice of praying two rak'ahs when travelling, they constituting a complete observance and not an abbreviation; and the witr while travelling is a Sunnah.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Seek the time in which hope is placed on Friday from after the afternoon prayer till sunset."

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "The promised day is the Day of Resurrection, the day which is witnessed is the day of Arafah, and the witness is Friday, on no more excellent day than which has the sun risen or sent. It contains a time at which no believing worshipper will supplicate Allah for what is good without Allah answering him, or seek refuge from something without His giving him refuge from it."

Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it, the latter saying that this is a gharib tradition known only among the traditions of Musa ibn Ubaydah who is declared to be weak.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1363        Narrated byAbuLubabah ibn AbdulMundhir

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Friday is the lord of days and the chief of them in Allah's sight, being greater in Allah's sight than the day of sacrifice and the day of breaking the fast. It has five distinguishing characteristics: on it Allah created Adam, on it Allah sent Adam to the Earth, on it Allah took Adam in death, it contains a time at which no one will ask for anything without Allah giving it, so long as he does not ask for anything unlawful, and on it the last hour will come. There is no angel near Allah's presence, nor sky, nor earth, nor winds, nor mountains, nor sea which do not fear Friday."

Ibn Majah transmitted. Ahmad transmitted from Sa'd ibn Mu'adh.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1364        Narrated bySa'd ibn Mu'adh

One of the Ansar went to the Prophet and asked him to tell him about the good contained in Friday. He replied, "It has five distinguishing characteristics...." and he carried on to the end of the tradition as in No. 1363.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1365        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked for what reason Friday acquired its name, he replied, "Because on it the nature of your father Adam was fashioned, on it will take place the Sa'qah (Nafkh, shout) and the resurrection of the dead, on it the assault will take place, and at the end of three hours in it there is a time at which anyone who makes a supplication to Allah will be answered."

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1366        Narrated byAbudDarda

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Invoke many blessings on me on Friday for it is witnessed. The angels are present on it, and no one will invoke a blessing on me without his blessing being submitted to me till he stops." I asked whether that applied also after his death, and he replied, "Allah has prohibited the Earth from consuming the bodies of the prophets; so Allah's prophet is alive and given provision."

Ibn Majah transmitted it.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1367        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Amr

Allah's messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Any Muslim who dies on Friday or on Thursday night will be protected by Allah from the testing in the grave."

Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it, the latter saying this is a gharib tradition whose isnad is not fully connected.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1368        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas

A Jew who was with Ibn Abbas when he recited, "Today I have perfected for you your religion..." (5:3) remarked, "If this verse had been revealed to us we would have made it a festival." Ibn Abbas replied, "It was revealed on a day which contained two festivals, on Friday and on the day of Arafah."

Tirmidhi transmitted it and said this is a hasan gharib tradition.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying, "The Friday prayer is obligatory on him who can get home to his family by nightfall."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: He who grants respite to one in straitened circumstances or gives up a portion of his claim against him, will be sheltered by Allah under the shadow of His throne on the Day of Judgment when there will be no other shade than His shade.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone washes and bathes on Friday, goes out early walking, not riding, goes near to the imam and listens without interrupting, he will have the reward of a year's fasting and praying for every step he takes."

Ubayd told in mursal form that Allah`s Messenger (peace be upon him) said one Friday, "Company of Muslims, this is a day which Allah has appointed as a festival, so bathe, and if anyone has perfume it does him no harm to apply some of it; and you should use the tooth-stick."

Malik transmitted it. Ibn Majah transmitted it from him, and it is fully connected form Ibn Abbas.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "It is a duty for Muslims to bathe on Friday, and one may apply some of his wife's perfume; but if he can get none, water is a perfume for him."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was leading the people in the noon prayer in time of danger in a valley with palm trees. He led a section in two rak'ahs after which he uttered the salutation; then another section came and he led them in two rak'ahs after which he uttered the salutation.

Baghawi transmitted it in Sharh as-Sunnah.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1425        Narrated byAbuHurayrah

AbuHurayrah told how when Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) encamped between Dajnan and Usfan the polytheists said, "These people observe a prayer which is dearer to them than their fathers and their sons, and it is the afternoon prayer, so join together and attack them in a single rush." But Gabriel came to the Prophet and ordered him to divide his companions into two divisions and lead one section in prayer while another stood behind them on guard and armed. They would pray one rak'ah and Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) two.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not go out on the day of the breaking of the fast till he had some food, but he did not take any food on the day of sacrifice till he had prayed.

At the two festivals the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Allah is most great" seven times in the first rak'ah before reciting from the Qur'an, and five times in the last one before reciting.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: On the night of my Ascent (Mi'raj) I met Abraham and he said to me: Muhammad, convey my salam to your people and tell them that Paradise is a vast plain of pure soil and sweet water and that its trees cry: Holy is Allah, all praise is due to Allah, there is none worthy of worship save Allah, and Allah is Great.

On a festival day when I was present at the prayer along with the Prophet (peace be upon him) he first observed the prayer without adhan or iqamah before the sermon. Then when he had finished the prayer he stood up, leaning on Bilal, praised and extolled Allah, gave the people an exhortation and an admonition and urged them to obey Him. He then went to the women, taking Bilal with him, commanded them to fear Allah and gave them an exhortation and an admonition.

Nasa'i transmitted it.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1446        Narrated byAbudDarda'

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Shall I tell you what is your best action, the purest in the estimation of kings, that which raises your rank to the highest, that which is better for you than spending gold and silver, and that which is better for you than that you should encounter the enemy to cut off their necks, they cutting off yours? Tell us indeed, they answered. He said: It is the remembrance of Allah, the Exalted.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "On the day of sacrifice no one does a deed more pleasing to Allah than the shedding of blood. The sacrifice will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its hair and its hooves, and the blood finds acceptance with Allah before it falls on the ground, so be glad about it."

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "There are no days on which Allah likes better to be worshipped than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. Fasting observed on each of these days is equivalent to a year's fasting, and prayer during each of these nights is equivalent to prayer during Laylat al-Qadr."

Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, but Tirmidhi said its isnad is weak.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) stayed ten years in Medina, and he used to observe the sacrifice.

The companions of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) asked him the significance of these sacrifices and he replied, "It is a custom which has come down from your father, Abraham." They asked what reward they would receive for them and he replied, "For every hair you will receive a blessing." They asked about wool, and he replied, "For every strand of wool you will receive a blessing."

Ahmad and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

 

 

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1487        Narrated byQatadah ibn Malik

Zayd ibn Ilaqah relates on the authority of his uncle, Qatadah ibn Malik, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would supplicate: Allah, I seek Thy protection against undesirable manners, acts and desires.

A slave who had settled the terms of his freedom with his master came to Ali and said: I am not able to discharge my instalments according to the agreement and I ask you to help me. Ali said to him: Shall I teach you a supplication which the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught me whereby Allah will discharge your obligation (debt) even if it were as heavy as a mountain? Supplicate: Allah, make that which is permissible sufficient for me so as to make me independent of that which is forbidden and of Thy grace bestow upon me a sufficiency which will make me independent of all beside Thee.

I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): Messenger of Allah, instruct me something that I may supplicate Allah for. He said: Beg Allah for security (Afiyah). I waited for some days and went and asked him again: Messenger of Allah, instruct me in something that I may supplicate Allah for. He said to me: Abbas, uncle of the Messenger of Allah, beg Allah for security (Afiyah) in this life and in the hereafter.

Shahr ibn Hawshab said: I asked Umm Salamah (Mother of the faithful), what was the supplication most often made by the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he was in your house? She said: His supplication most often was: Controller of hearts, make firm my heart in Thy faith.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: One of the supplications of David was: Allah, I beg of Thee Thy love and the love of those who love Thee, and such conduct as should lead me to Thy love. Allah, make Thy love dearer to me than my soul and my family and dearer than cold water.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) made many supplications which we were not able to retain in our memories. So we said to him: Messenger of Allah, you make many supplications of which we do not remember any. He said: Shall I tell you something which will encompass all of them? Supplicate: Allah, I beg of Thee all the good that Thy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) begged of Thee and seek Thy Protection against all the evil against which Thy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought Thy protection. Thou art the One who is asked for help and it is for Thee to convey Thy guidance. There is no strength to resist evil nor power to do good except through Allah.

 Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 1498        Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud

One of the supplications of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was: Allah, I beg of Thee that which inspires Thy mercy and Thy forgiveness, security against every sin, treasures of every virtue, and achievement of Paradise and deliverance from the Fire.
