There was a period of about 10 years following World War 2 when local manufacturers were able to find a market, due to the slowness of imports to resume and satisfy the demand. Donald Cranko, with his factory in Havelock North made a range of toys, including trains. He did not make accessories. Real Rail however made a range of simple, rather crude, wooden acessories, as well as rail tracks etc.

There are six pages to this site, Cranko are covered on the first four, then Real Rail, plus Lawrence Lines (tracks mainly)and the locos of David Auld. An article on the history of Cranko was published in the September 2000 issue of the Australian Hornby Railway Collector magazine, together with some of the photographs that appear on this site.
