RETURN TO THE TEMPLE

Old Songs of the Week

May they never be forgotten.

You see son, when you get older, you begin to forget things. So you start keeping track of the things in your life, so you can remember them when you die.

Temple began 1/15/2001 and the first song of the week ever on the Temple was "Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Bebop)" by Q-Feel (and that band featured Martin Page, who sang "In the House of Stone and Light" which has never been crowned song of the week, but I owned the cassette single of it when I was in 5th grade)

So I have the song let it whip on my computer, and it says it's by cameo, it's not, it's by Dazz Band, and it is awesome. For the longest time I thought ti was cameo and only just recently learned it's by Dazz band, so I have put it on the jukebox at bars. It is full of funk and groove, it makes me want to move. I seen people dancin' and I seen people humpin' stools when this song is on, it's got power. The beginning is great too, I imagine a spaceship slowly descending to land and then like funky dudes getting off and playing this song.

Seventeen Years by Ratatat is a pretty sweet song, just a dude playing guitar and some other shit going on as far as my untrained ears can tell. No lyrics except for some guy talking about how he's been rapping for 17 years at the beginning, which I guess don't actually count as lyrics. I'm listening to it right now and it's the lull in the song, but the song is pretty funky. Fun Fact: this may have already been a song of the week, but I don't rememember, good thing I've decided to create a new archives for songs of the week! Yeah! To all the haters of the hard on, wut wut! To all the hairy heads with their part on, wut wut!

Shoo, Shoo! That is what a lady says to a fly. Xiu Xiu, I have had a bunch of songs by them on my computer for quite a while, I listened to them a while ago and remember very sparse instrumentation and a guy moaning. Turns out I wasn't that far off! But seriously, I gave it a listen the other night and was like oh nice, I'll listen to this more, so the song is Suha, a sad but uplifting tune about a prostitute maybe? Spitzer!!! It's like, what's he gonna have to say about this whole thing!?!? There it is!

'Bring me a higher love!' Remember that song, did you know that is Steve Winwood? The guy from traffic, I never would have guessed. That song reminds me of road trips with my family when I was younger, like the time we drove to Kentucky. Why would anybody want to drive to Kentucky? (You effete northeastern types, always knockin on the south!)

Remember the television show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'? How could you not, it was on for several years and (James) garnered much praise. Anyway, song of the week (or however long til I next update) is the theme from that show.
