Thailand

The Mae Fah Luang Foundation, founded by the late mother of the King, promotes the welfare of the hilltribe people of northern Thailand in various ways. Under the auspices of this organization, new museum facilities are being created. Funded by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and operated jointly by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation and the TAT, these new museums will explore the history and cultures of the Golden Triangle region and the influence of opium on its people. A park and museum galleries in Chiang Rai (called the Rai Mae Fah Luang - pictured below) will display beautiful pieces of Buddhist religious art in a setting appropriate to their sensitive nature and explore Lanna Culture .
