Visiting Researcher October 1995 - March 31, 1997
During my association with the Tokyo University Museum, I was honored to be allowed to participate in many different activities.
In November 1995, the museum presented an exhibition entitled "Dederiyeh: Neanderthals and Modern Humans" -- an exhibition which also traveled within Japan and was complimented by a symposium and publication. In addition to assisting with correspondence related to these efforts, I had the pleasure of acting as a gallery attendant and tour guide on two occaisions.
In conjunction with the museum's exhibition on the history of printing in Japan, I assisted in translating an introduction to the accompanying publication and brochure for the opening. I was also allowed an opportunity to contribute a small HTML display on the topic on a computer within the gallery. I also had the unique pleasure of helping to install and remove artifacts from their display cases.
Other efforts I was involved with included the creation of a bibliographic database and participation in a symposium for museum professionals, where I delivered a short lecture on the use of the World Wide Web by museums.
