Trained and supervised a team moving, storing and organizing a large collection of art; also liaison between storage facility staff and construction team during building renovation.
Working with architects, risk management consultants, contractors and others on space programming and planning has deepened my understanding of issues related to security, access, fire prevention systems, and general building maintenance. Since all of these concerns are vital to the functioning of any repository of art, this has been a very valuable experience.
This project has provided a unique insight into the wide variety of materials and artwork generated in the creation of an animated film. Moving and organizing the collection has been a very interesting opportunity to learn about the conservation needs of this special category of material; it has also been a terrific introduction to Disney's own animation history and the artists who have created it.
Animation collection managment here includes organization by production, sequence, and scene; handling and storing cels, ruff and clean-up animation, backgrounds, story sketches, concept art, etc.; it is a very interesting assortment of material and there are many concerns unique to this sort of collection.
