It was near the Western Empire-Old Kingdom border where a minor land owning noble of the name Garlandus became the father of strong, baby boy he named Simon. Simon was everything his father hoped he would be and he knew how to ride horses almost as early as he could walk. Simon's father always assumed Simon would become a land owner and nobleman just as he was and his father was and all the Garlandus' were since even the elderly elves that sometimes came to visit could remember.

The year Simon turned 12 was the year Simon's father joined the Empire and swore allegiance to Lord Itomas and his small chunk of land and his peasants became another tiny cog of the Western Empire. It was because of this that Simon met a knight known as Sir Cecil. Sir Cecil offered young Simon the chance of a life time: to train under him in the military arts. Simon always was adventurous and rather than follow in his fathers footsteps he joined the Army of the Western Empire and his father encouraged him strongly. Simon was a natural warrior and military strategist and by the time he was 17 he was dubbed Sir Garland, when he earned his knighthood during the scouting period of the Orphids Grasslands expansion plan. But as a knight of the Western Empire Sir Garland had seen many innocent lives lost and countless farms burned and innocent women raped. Sir Garland finally stepped back and looked at the big picture and began to realize that no one is expendable. His father had treated the poor as animals and it was no different in the rest of the empire so Sir Garland went AWOL, deserting while on duty. He vowed to protect the poor and defenseless rather than stand by and watch them being spit on. He became the peoples warrior, a warrior of light, a Palladin.

In his quest for inner peace he has begun practicing the worship of the gods of light and has become a member of the Church of Light. His most prized weapon is Deathkiss the Demon Sword which possess the unique ability to steal and consume the soul of a living creature. This power, however, is only used when necessary. Deathkiss was won after he helped slay the insane changling summoner "Mad Charles" after he tried to turn himself into a demonic dynamo.

Sir Garland has resently gained a level in the Ancient Tombs, and has switched O.C.C. from Palladin to a Longbowmen, he has been practicing for some time now with a long bow that he purchased a few months ago.  Good luck to him in his continueing quests.   -Rehlman

Sir Garland with the help of his friends has gained multiple levels lately, down in an underground lair, He is now an excellent marksman with the bow and, now has gone back to living life the paladin way.  (In other words he switched back)  -Rehlman

8/31/97: An interesting turn of events has occured, as we venture into the dungeon of Deltor keep.  Sir Garland has gone slightly insane (got an insanity), he is now "Sadistic, derives pleasure from inflicting or obseriving pain".  Goes real great with the fact that he's a Palladin.  Well, fortunately we have a mind mage in the group with the psionic "Cure Insanity" for a temporary fix, until he can be perminantly cured  -Rehlman

9/22/97: Sir Garland's sedistic mind is no more... No, we didn't kill him :), we destroyed the MadStone which showered us with frequent saves vs. Insanity.  With the distruction of the MadStone, so to are the insanties distructed.  May Sir Garland lead a long, insanity free, "unsadistic" life :)  -Rehlman

10/29/97: Sir Garland has once again gained a level.  He's become quite a force to reckon with.  He gained the level through successfully reaching the Fountain of Life, and helping a dieing man regain his health in the process.  Soon Sir Garland will be known as a hero throughout the land  -Rehlman

12/2/97:  Recently a conversation between Sir Garland and Drog took place relating to the state of the group as they left the Yin Sloth jungles.  Excellent reading...Enjoy!  -Rehlman

1/18/98:  Sir Garland has gotten Rashidi to see the light and give up his dark ways, next in the line-up is Drog...though Drog may be a harder target to turn.  -Rehlman
