How is SDC used for people in your game?

We use them in accordance to 2nd Ed. Rules
We play 1st Ed., so we don't have to worry about it
We've kept the SDC, but modified how it's used so it's not just extra h.p.'s
We play 2nd Ed., but have thrown out SDC for people, we use only h.p.'s
I don't have game going right now
