Firstly, as I said, a little about myself. I have been involved with the Court for about 7 years now, since towards the end of Reign I. I've enjoyed meeting people involved from different Courts around North America, and I know there are lots more that work in the background that I haven't had the honor of meeting...yet. Travelling to Out-of-Town Coronations, Adornments and other functions has been both a learning experience and an enjoyable one. In our own Court I have had the honor of working with some of the members in such activities as our Breakfast Bingo, held at one of the Bingo Halls here in the city, helping in the Christmas Gift Basket program, as well as other functions and fundraisers.I've held shows, co-hosted others, and each activity gives me a little more satisfaction that I'm actually doing something to help someone else. It's a great feeling, as you know yourselves.
District Manager that has been involved with the Court longer than I...as a matter of fact, he's the one that got me into this.
I recognize the importance of what the International Court Systems stands for, and the many tasks that we have undertaken, not only for the improvements of ourselves, but most importantly of others. The fundraising events that other Courts and Baronies have done for their particular Charities are not only honorable, but fun at the same time, and that's what it's all about...raising some much needed money and enjoying doing it.
The Charities that I am most interested in raising funds for in our Court are Camp Oasis, a summer camp dedicated to children who are afflicted and affected with AIDS that they can go to "get away" and enjoy a camp atmosphere: Breast Cancer Reasearch, as I have friends and relatives that have gone, or are going through this, and the Neighbor to Neighbor Food Bank. I chose this one because in the past, my family has had to use this service and I'd like to give something back, as there are more and more families that cannot put enough food on the table for themselves or their children. As you can probably tell, I have a special place in my heart for children, and they ARE the future, and any support we can give them towards a happy and prosperous life gives personal satisfaction.
