| Hi, my name is Kaye Westbrook and this is the Timbavati website. Why Timbavati? Well, after dabbling in dachshunds and afghans for awhile I settled into Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Timbavati is the name I chose for my kennel. I liked it so much I chose to keep it when I got into Bengals and Salukis. An exotic name for exotic breeds. What is the Timbavati? The Timbavati is a vast expanse of parkland called the Veld that is located mostly in Kruger National Park in South Africa. My site's theme and graphics feature the animals and landscape of the Timbavati. Timbavati got its start in the 1970's when I teamed up with Judith Huberts of River Roads Ridgebacks and began showing and breeding Ridgebacks. I have bred some 30 champion Ridgebacks to include multiple group winning and group placing dogs and the Register of Merit bitch, Ch Timbavati Emotional Rescue, who whelped the Best in Show winning Ch Southridge Indianna Jones. As time went by and the body grew old I realized Ridgebacks were becoming just too much dog for me. In the mid-1990's my good friend Sydney Welch gave me a saluki. Since then salukis have been my breed of dog. I have owned and/or bred several champion salukis since then. I got into Bengals through Sydney as well, or more correctly we got into it together at about the same time. We both went to a cat show one day to check out the different breed of cats. At first we got some Persians but then decided they were way too much like Afghans with all that hair. So, we went back and looked some more. Originally, we liked the Ocicats but then we turned the corner and there they were, the most magnificent, awesome looking cats we had ever seen!! They looked just like little minature Leopards. They were, of course, Bengals. Sydney and I work together on our breeding program with most of my Bengals coming from her because she has more time and space to devote to breeding her Bengals than I do because of my very elderly mother who lives at home and requires constant care. If you are looking for a nice pet or something to show please drop me a line, Timbavati usually has a couple of litters of bengals and salukis a year. If I do not have something available I usually can refer you to someone who does. |
