Digestive System
The digestive system is made up of organ that breaks down foods into nutrients that is needed by the body. And that includes protein, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, which the body need for energy, growth, and repairs. Food enters from the mouth. From the mouth, the food is broken down by teeth and salive. The teeth contains four parts:
-
Incisor/Canine: Tears the food into small pieces.
-
Premolar/Molar: tenderizes the food so it can be swallowed.
Then, the food is softened by the enzymes within the saliva. When the food is swallowed, tt passes through a tube connecting from the mouth to the stomach called the
esophagus. When it does arrive at the stomach, strong digestive acid, enzymes and hydrochloic acid break it down to bit that are then used to pass on to the small intestine. This is where the food is broken down into nutrients and passes through tiny hair-like projection called villi and into the bloodstream. As the food travels upon the bloodstream, the food will be filthered by the liver, an organ that lies right under the diaphragm. Inside the liver, there is a small organ called the gallbladder. The gallbladders job is to provide a chemical-like substance called bile that breaks down fat.The remaining undigested food leaves the body through the large intestine.
