Tweedy Cemetery
I went to Tweedy Cemetery, July 2001. I walked through and read the headstones. The following is my on records from the cemetery. I wrote down what was on the headstones to the best of my ability. Several of the stones were worn by weather and several more were broken off. If you find anything you think is a mistake let me know and I'll check my notes.
These are transcribed the following way, I started by the road, reading from the fence to the gate. The last row was up against the back fence.
Here are the directions to Tweedy Cemetery.
Take highway 69 south out of Fort Scott, KS. Go about 5 miles and you will see a sign for the turn off to Garland. Turn left toword Garland, go approx. 2 miles to road 240. Turn right on road 240 and go about 1 and 4/10th of a mile. The cemetery is on the right.
Just a little note about the cemetery. Who ever is taking care of the grounds is doing a wonderful job. I thought, with cemetery being way out in the middle of nowhere that it might be over grown but it is not. The grounds were mowed and there wasn't a weed in sight. To who ever is doing the upkeep. Good job and thank you.
