LATEST NEWS:

Here's the new music video we made back in November 2007. It's for a new Ticklish Brother song called Close To You, and it shows what is perhaps not the ideal way to demonstrate your infatuation with someone. Byron was the main force behind the video, though a large chunk was also contributed to by the wonderful young people (Haley Battcock, Trent Davis, Lucy Niles, Michelle Saunders, and Curtis Williams) who came to our workshop on Sunday at the Labrador Creative Arts Festival in Happy Valley - Goose Bay. They learned how to use the cameras, lights and sound equipment, then worked their butts off to help us capture several crucial scenes. In addition to Byron and I, the video also features the awesome Stephanie Flowers and Fran the dog, with a very special cameo by Byron's father, Melvin. The whole process took roughly 4 jam-packed days.

Ticklish Brother's 10th Anniversary show was a lot of fun. January 19th, 2007 in Cambridge at Cafe on King, we trotted out all the old stuff and gave an airing to a bunch of newer material as well. Though the weather kept a few less intrepid souls away, a great time was had by all. Check out a couple of live tracks from the show at our Myspace page, or a wider range at our Soundclick pageThere are also some pictures from the show and the rehearsal beforehand, as well as one from the recording of our new album. Stay tuned! Once again, our music is fostering education, this time with a recently-completed French translation of 3 Bears being used in a series of workshops in Labrador francophone schools. Byron's recent material, comedy both musical and otherwise, has been featured prominently on many CBC broadcasts both in Labrador and across Canada on shows like Definitely Not The Opera. A major and long-overdue revamp of this website is also on the horizon, so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for visiting!

-What sort of music do we play?

We play serious stuff. We're always serious. Yeah. Of course.... Most of what we play is original Ticklish Brother! material, and all of the songs on the CD are originals, written by Byron and Justin. It's fun, happy music that's pleasant to listen to, played with our own strange take on life. We've always had way too much fun making music together, and that enthusiasm comes across on the CD and in our live shows.

- Upon what do we play this music?

Our equipment for shows generally consists of two or more voices (in harmony), and one or more acoustic guitars. We also incorporate anything that happens to make a noise that we want to use. As well, we always employ the services of a Super SpecialSecret Guest, who varies from show to show. Practicality At Its Maximum features a selection of exotic instruments, including the Potato Skewer and the Exercise Bar.

- What is our opinion of figs and olives?

They are bad.

- What about Argus and Fido?

They are good.

- Can one buy a record album of Ticklish Brother! material?

Yes! Our first CD, "Practicality At Its Maximum" is now available from us. For an extremely reasonable 14 dollars, you get 21 tracks and over an hour of music, as well as full colour artwork, a Fun Band, and a sticker. A new album is currently in the works, with a potential release date of late 2007.

- What are our connections with the music industry?

Justin owns many albums. He also owns a stereo, half of a FOSTEX X26 4-TRACK RECORDER, and half of an AKAI DPS12 12-TRACK DIGITAL RECORDER. Byron once gave his little plastic squirrel, Twaddlehodges, to Weird Al Yankovich's keyboardist, who glued it to his keyboard for their European tour that year. He also owns the other half of the RECORDERS. We have played live on CBC several times, including twice on Madly Off In All Directions, hosted by the hilarious Lorne Elliott.

- How can we take in a Ticklish Brother! concert?

Justin and Byron are currently performing individually in Ontario and Labrador, and except for our 10th anniversary show in January there are no immediate plans for duo gigs. But we're constantly writing new material and exploring options for Ticklish Brother performances and recordings. If you would like specific information, or would like to enquire about booking us, please feel free to e-mail us.

Well, that's all for now. As time progresses, we'll add more Ticklish Brother! content. Please feel free to wander through our personal pages and see what we're like. Thanks for visiting!
