The newly formed Three Guineas Press is pleased to announce the publication of its first book, Hey Paesan! Writing by Lesbians and Gay Men of Italian Descent, a groundbreaking anthology edited by Tommi Avicolli Mecca, Giovanna (Janet) Capone and Denise Nico Leto. It hit bookstores in November 1999. With fiction, poetry and essays by some 41 writers from the U.S. and Canada, Hey Paesan! is the first-ever look at the homophobia, silence, and invisibility faced by members of an ethnic group stereotyped as mafiosi and femme fatales. It's a long overdue contribution to the growing awareness of multiculturalism in the Americas. It's also queer pride, Italian style! Hey Paesan! is distributed by Armadillo and Alamo Square on the west coast and Bookazine on the east coast. No author tour is planned, but contributors will be holding book signings in several cities, including San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York.
