Mystic Styles (May 1995) -Track Listings and Reviews

#1. Da Beginning- Eerie ass intro with Paul and Juice introducing the album and who's in it as well as others in Prophet Entertainment.

#2. Break Da Law 95'- In my opinion, the hardest track on the CD. Also the 3rd known "Break Da Law" in the series (the first 2 in undergrounds, 98' on Indo G's
Angel Dust and 2001' on Proj. Pat's Mista Dont Play). DJ Paul flows 2 verses.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#3. Da' Summa- One of the most laid back tracks of the South, period. They make a remake on "Kings Of Memphis:Underground Vol. 3". The beat samples an old school Rick James song and basically tells about kickin back, smokin, etc.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#4. Live By Yo' Rep (B.O.N.E. Dis)- I can honestly say that out of past and present rilvaries in the rap game from B.I.G. and Pac' to Jay-Z and Nas, I havent heard a harder dis/rilvary than Bone Thugs and Three Six. This song would scare the sh*t out of a normal human being just by listening to it. Lord,Skinny Pimp, Juiceman, Gangsta Boo, Playa Fly and DJ Paul threaten Bone with everything in the book in an interview-type form. On a side note, as well as a HCP fan I'm also a Bone fan as well, so for those who listen to Bone also, Bone answers to this in "Look Into My Eyes".
My Rating:5 out of 5

#5. In Da Game- Bad ass beat. I think Gangsta Boo got the best verse in this one, it showed the time when she was rawer than raw. Everybody else got tight verses but in my opinion, Boo stole the show.
My Rating:4 out of 5

#6. Now I'm High pt. 3- The 3rd known "Now I'm High" song in Prophet. Boo,Playa Fly and Lord Infamous got cold ass verses gitten' throwed off coke and weed.
Eerie beat....would give a 5 yr. old nightmares just listening to it.
My Rating:4 out of 5

#7. Long Nite- A combination of storytelling (DJ Paul), jail-dwelling (Juicy J), violent acts (Scarecrow) and str8 flowing (Koopsta). Tight beat, I heard it sampled a Marvin Gaye old schooler.
My Rating:3.5 out of 5

#8.Sweet Robbery pt. 2- Slowed beat (almost screwed) but they put down verses on basic robberies. An average song to me really.By the way, DJ Paul later used a line in his verse on this song for the hook on Track #12 on Proj. Pat's Mista Don't Play.
My Rating: 3 out of 5

#9. Back Against Da Wall- Tight ass beat by Juice and Paul. Paul, Juicman and Lord Infamous go off, but the best verse to me was the last one by Skinny Pimp. Hands down one of the best verses he's ever done, and I follow this guys work outside of Prophet as well.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#10. Fuckin Wit Dis Click- Everytime I listen to this song, I picture a music video with them standing in a graveyard out in the rain and lightning. This sounds more like something out of a movie (in which the beat is sampled from a movie theme I heard).
The beat is killa', and it was in this song I heard the best verse Koop has ever done in my opinion.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#11.All Or Nuthin'- Naaah. I didn't really like this one. Tight lyrix, but the beat didn't hit. It wasnt that the song was too slow or anything, it just wasn't there. It didn't hit home.
My Rating: 1 out of 5 (the 1 cuz of the lyrix, plus the hook is kinda tight)

#12. Gotta Touch Em' pt. 2- This song had Crunchy's first appearance on the CD. And it wasnt a bad start at that. They later used this beat for "Who Da Crunkest"
Everybody jumped off clean.
My Rating: 5 out of 5

#13. Tear Da Club Up- Need I say more? The title itself coined as a famous phrase throughout the South itself. Paul, Juicy J and Lord Infamous come off clean in this one. By the way, it was because of this song why the group was named in 1999 the Tear Da Club Up Thugs.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#14. Big Bizness (screwed)- I wish this song was longer. DJ Paul had one of his hardest verses on here. Then they had to cap it off tight by screwin the beat, and here in Houston,TX (birthplace of the screw music), we bump the hell out' some screw!
My Rating: 4 out of 5 (would have been 5, but the song was short)

#15. Mystic Styles- I believe this is the first known Posse colaboration song in Prophet. Three Six Mafia, MC Mack and even La Chat all come off tight as hell.
My Rating:5 out of 5

#16. Porno Movie- You know they couldn't end the album without talkin bout' fuckin some hoes. This song is a remake from an underground. Lord Infamous has one of his most memorable verses on here.
My Rating: 3 out of 5

Final Say: This album is crunk as hell. The first nationwide CD from Prophet Entertainment and what a way to start off a Southern dynasty. For the majority of the songs, if you bump this in ya' ride, put some bass on it for real.
All in all this was a 4.5 out of 5.
