Stockholm, Sweden: (12 pictures) – Days 28 and 30

Stockholm from the boat - This picture was taken as I was leaving Stockholm the first time on my way to Helsinki after I decided I didn't want to stay because it was raining.  The funny thing was that by the time the boat was leaving it had stopped raining and then when I came back two days later it was raining almost the whole time I was in Stockholm.

Swedish Islands from the boat -  This was also taken on the ferry headed toward Helsinki.  We must have passed thousands and thousands of islands just like these on our way to Finland.  I was having a great time on the boat though.

“Gustaf al Klint" - This boat was actually my hostel for the one night I stayed in Stockholm.  I was already feeling like I was always swaying back and forth from being on ferries for the previous two nights, but I thought it would be cool to stay on a hostel boat.

Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace - From watching this and the one in England, I have come to the conclusion that changing of the guards are boring.  This took over half an hour to finish, but since it was raining and I was covered, I stayed.  And also because the Swedes are wearing those funny hats.

Royal Palace - This is the winter home of Sweden's royal family.  To avoid the rain, I went inside and walked around the State Apartments, which I could have swore I saw a couple times already in a few other cities.

Park - This is a pretty picture of Stockholm I took while walking through a park on a hilltop.

Cultural Center Square - This was a big square in the middle of modern Stockholm.  The cultural center on the left was a huge building with a few art exhibits, a few restaurants, an Internet cafe, and some other things I didn't bother to check out.

View of the Royal Palace - This picture was taken during a rare break in the rain.  The Royal Palace is in the middle and on the left side of the picture, and I think that's the Royal Chapel on the right side of the picture.

City Hall - This is where the Nobel Prize dinner is held every year.  I climbed the tower my last morning in Stockholm before my train left and had a great view of the city.

Riddarholmen Church - This is a famous church in Stockholm.  It was built about 700 years ago and is the place where almost all of Sweden's kings have been buried.

Stockholm with my hostel boat - This picture was taken from the top of a hill where I ate at a really good vegetarian buffet for dinner.  My hostel boat is right in the middle of the picture.

Gamla Stan from the top of City Hall - This is a great view of old town Stockholm.  The Royal Palace is the huge building on the left side of the picture.  You can also actually see the Mariella (my boat to Helsinki) and even my hostel boat in this picture.  The Mariella is the second boat to the right of the center of the picture in the background.  My hostel boat is just to the right of the church to the right of the Mariella, also in the background.  Confused?  Because I am.
