English Countryside: (11 pictures) - Days 3, 4, and 5

Stonehenge -  It just happened that Stonehenge was right off the road we were taking between London and Sarah's home in Somerset County, so of course we had to stop by.  It was in the middle of nowhere, it seemed, with not even a gas station nearby.  It was also closed when we got there, but we walked right up to the fence that was pretty close to the stones.  It didn't really seem like it was a big deal when you are there, until you think about it more and wonder just how those foreign rocks got there 4,000 years ago.

Me and Sarah at the Eden Project -  The first full day I was in Southwest England, we drove about an hour and a half into Cornwall County to see the Eden Project.  It is a biosphere that was made more for education about our ecosystem than for science and experimentation.

Inside the Eden Project -  The insides of all the different biosphere bubbles were filled with plants from different areas of the world.  They even had a California section where I could recognize some of the plants.  It took about an hour and a half to walk around all of the trails inside the bubbles.

Eden Project -  Here is another shot of the biospheres.  It actually looked bigger from the outside than the inside, but still it was very neat to visit and walk around in.

Restormel Castle - This is a castle we found on the way back home from the Eden Project.  It turned out to be the most genuine castle I saw on my trip because all of the other ones were in cities and they were all touristy and restored.  This one was pretty much exactly how it looked when it was a working castle, except of course the hundreds of  years of deterioration.

Restormel Castle - It was a very small castle, but it also turned out to be my favorite one of the whole trip, because it actually looked like a castle and there was hardly anybody else around.

Me and Sarah in her field - This is one of my favorite pictures from my trip.  I put my camera on a log and used it's timer to take this picture.  We had walked about 15 minutes from Sarah's house, after seeing all of her cows, barns, and tractors, to the top of this hill here where the picture was taken.

Me in Sarah’s field - I forget exactly how much land Sarah's family had, but it is all very pretty and very green.

Sarah at Burnt House Farm -  This is Sarah in front of her house that was built over 100 years ago.  Their farm is named Burnt House Farm.  I guess before the current white house, we know what happened to the previous one.

Me at the Ocean -  The day before I left England, Sarah and I drove to the southern coast of England to a town called Lyme Regis.  She actually let me try driving her car also, which was different of course because the steering wheel was on the right hand side and I drove on the left hand side of the road.  I think I did ok though.

Lyme Regis town - This is a really old town on the coast that used to be an important trade center because it had a protected bay for all the ships coming from all over the world.
