THIRD GOAL BIKE TOUR 2002
The Third Goal Bike Tour is a cross country bicycle tour that begins on National Peace Corps Day March 1st, 2002 from San Diego, CA to Washington, DC.  The Bike Tour is a celebration of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) for having served in the United States Peace Corps.  Every RPCV is encouraged to implement the Third Goal, 'Bringing the World Back Home,' by sharing the culture of the country where we have served with folks in the USA.   This may be fulfilled in many different ways.  The Third Goal Bike Tour is an attempt to  'bring the world back home' by sharing our personal experiences and understanding of our Peace Corps Experience.  Additionally, we will network with RPCVs  and participate in National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) and affilliate group activities en route.

The Bike Tour will cover over 4,500 miles from San Diego, CA to Washington, DC.  The average mileage per day will be approximately 60 miles over a duration of 114 days.  This journey will pass through the southern states to include California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carlolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and District of Columbia.  The final destination point will be on June 22st, 2002 at the National Peace Corps Conference (at the Zoo)  in Washington, DC.

All interested riders should contact
Stephanie Palau to make arrangements to join the Tour for any length of time.  Anyone interested in hosting riders should also contact Stephanie.  This ride is being made possible only as a result of the kindness of RPCVs and supporters.  Already there has been a wonderful response by the RPCV community to organize and participate in activities, to host riders, to provide information and support, and to ride with the Tour.  Additional support is always welcome and needed!!!!
