8 AugustFor you Atlantis The first of our holiday, day we arrived at the
airport, my brother picked us up. We don’t see each other very much. Most of
the time, we just call, or write an e-mail. It’s strange to set foot outside
Atlantis. I love to smell the strange air, the smell of grass, but at the same
time I miss the smell of the sea very, very much. It was nice to see my
sister-in-law, and my nieces. We stayed for the night, rented a car, and headed
for the highway that took us to the places we wanted to visit. Every time I’m
outside Atlantis, the thing that gets me the most is the totally different way
of dealing with each other. In the car I read a book about one of the cities we are going to visit. I like to know about what happened there in the past. About the history, the wars, the people that where powerful, but even more about the common people. As always I’m shocked, about how cruel we people are for, and with each other. How in all sorts of cultures we don’t hesitate to betray, to fight, to insult, to overrule, to hate, to ignore. Such a long history we people on earth have, and still it seems we didn’t learn a thing. But in all these stories, a tiny little light shines on me too…
We drank some wine, talked a bit about the things we
saw on the way. At that moment, for the first time, I had the feeling my holiday
was really started. I took a warm bath. Afterwards my husband gave me a
great massage. Mmmm… For me the first long hot night could start!
