Lock Up your Hard Drive and your daughters...

Worried about someone breaking into your computer?
or a family member unintentionally erasing
your 120 megabyte office suite that you loaded
from a foot hight stack of floppies?
Would you really like your own preferences on
a computer that you share?

Your answer may be the DataPort removable storage
compartment for standard EIDE or SCSI hard-drives.
This is not removable Media like a ZIP disk,
but a 5-1/4" Drive bay mount that holds a removable
container for 3.5" Hard drives.

I installed a Dataport in a Gateway P5-120 tower
to support software testing. We had two removable
containers, for two hard drives of differnt sizes.
One was a Windows NT 3.51 and DOS, the other
was Windows 95. The idea was not to cross contaminate
each system, and cut time if I had to reformt.

No CMOS changes had to be made when switching
because both drives were set up with EZ drive
manager which likes 16/63 heads/cylinders settings.
The power is cut off when the Key to unlock
the drive is turned. It's a good idea not to
unlock and remove the drive in the middle of
saving your entire budget. Make sure the
operating system has given a "Safe to Shut down"
message.

Then just unlock and Switch, and reboot.

Remember That your basic internal hard
drive is not designed as a portable appliance.
Get the optional storage case or use a pink
Anti-static bag with it's own Bubble wrap.

You can order a DataPort from
