| SUVs. Sport Utility Vehicles....But do people really use these for Sport anymore? Only 5% of these 'Off-Road' vehicles are ever taken off-road. More people are buying these gas-guzzlers for "Luxury" Everyday you see SUVs taking up most of the road with only one person in the car. And if they're driving around a college campus, chances are they're not going on a camping trip. |
| One of the biggest problems with SUVs is gas mileage. Most SUV's get well under 20 miles per gallon, not even meeting the CAFE standards. What does this mean? Well, first of all it costs a lot to fill up the tank. Also, we're talking about higher emissions and more pollution. More than 60% of gasoline in the US comes from foreign countries. Our country is very dependant on foreign oil. SUV's are making this problem much much worse, by consuming so much gas. |
| So Think About It. Why do you want an SUV? So all six of your kids can fit in the same vehicle? Or so you can look cool? If it's the later, please consider this information. |
