Lady 3

I looked at the book
I was looking at her
Her dark hair caught my eye
The dark eyes too were smiling towards me
I moved to take a chance

We talked, Oh our hearts
We drank tea and spoke of life
Her life was free and fun
The travels, study, and roaming

She looked into my eyes
The tears down her cheeks
Her loneliness touched
By my life
We kissed

Hand in hand along the shore
The waves crashing on our ankles
Walking through woods
Laughing among trees
Arm in arm in the rain

Shivering in the car we sat
Smiling at our fun and where
We had walked and run and spent the day
Eating, sitting, holding each other
The darkness came and our smiles remained

Heart to heart and yet
Something was in the way
I walked out the door
And sat in the sun
The ring in my pocket

The book was open some pages full
It closed and the days passed
The chance was taken
And it was good
I look back at the beautiful lass

My heart still hurts
I look around
But no more laughing eyes
We are gone and yet
Life was smiling once
