THE SWISS CONSPIRACY
Consumer Guide

Because TSC is available in so many different packages released by so many different companies, I started this section to help you attain the best possible copy of the movie! I have three DVDs that contain the movie and a downloaded version as well. Information on all is below. If you have input on any other DVDs/downloads of the movie or further input on the ones I've mentioned,
e-mail me and let me know!

Digiview Productions - Running time: 1:23:18. This is by far the best DVD copy that I have. The transfer isn't great but it's pretty good. It appears to be a transfer from a reel-to-reel copy. It opens with the logo of S.J. International Pictures, which released the movie to American theaters. Its only huge flaw is the absence of the latter part of the scene in which Christopher, Hurtil, Benninger and Hayes are in Hurtil's office. After Hayes leaves, the other three discuss the blackmail situation and we get some insight into why Hayes is wanted dead.

In addition, the editing of that scene on this DVD creates a continuity error. The last thing that happens before the cut is Hayes, as he is leaving, saying "Justice. All I need." and Benninger starting to close the door. Suddenly Hurtil is shown closing the door and Benninger says, off screen, "I hope his best is good enough." This sounds illogical. But in the full version of the scene, as Christopher leaves the room, he says "I'll do my best." One other minor flaw in this version is that the audio goes completely out when Christopher asks McGowan "Want to translate that for me?"

Also included on this DVD is Casablanca Express, which I have yet to watch. The main menu of the DVD contains the scene in which Christopher, Hurtil and Abbott talk in Hurtil's office along with a simultaneous clip of CI and moving wallpaper with photos from both movies, while the main theme of TSCplays.

Public Domain Torrents! - Running time: 1:23:22. You can download TSC for free here! Normally, I wouldn't condone such a practice but I recently learned that this movie is apparently public domain. I'm trying to find out how it reached that status.

This version, as far as I can tell, is identical to the aforementioned Digiview Productions version except that the S.J. International Pictures logo is deleted. I'm not sure why this version is four seconds longer than the DP version. This could be the result of something such as the credits closing off earlier in the DP version or the PDT version being recorded at a slightly slower speed.

Family Value Collection - Running time: 1:20:57. This appears to be an edited for television version. It contains the full scene that is abridged in the above versions but lacks a bedroom scene with Christopher and Abbott in which both are clearly topless and Abbott's breasts are fleetingly visible. This scene gives some insight into Christopher's eventual discovery of the blackmailer's identity.

In addition, the editing in the last scene is very sloppy. Immediately after Abbott points her gun at Christopher and demands the diamonds, Frey and Schwand arrive. Christopher throwing the diamonds to Abbott and then quickly pulling out his gun and pointing it at her is deleted. Also deleted is the opening speech on Switzerland and the first scene begins a few seconds later. The first thing shown is the waiter who shoots Rasher wheeling the cart. Finally, obscenities in this version are silenced, the close up of Kosta with a bullet hole in his head is deleted and the close up of Hayes dead in the dead is greatly shortened.

This DVD is a David Janssen double header that also contains Moon of the Wolf a very fun movie in which David stars as a small town Louisiana sheriff trying to catch a werewolf.

Miracle Pictures - Running time: 1:20:57. This DVD contains only TSC and as far as I can tell, it's completely identical to the aforementioned Family Value Collection version.
