1039 SMOOTHED OUT SLAPPY HOURS SONG MEANINGS:

The first things written about the songs are what they seem to mean in my opinion, then underneath is different people's opinions on the song meaning, if you think you know what the * song * is about please email me and I will put your suggestions up..

At The Libary:
Billie Joe wrote this song about a girl he saw at the library, he wanted to go up and ask her out but didn't have the "guts", he goes to ask her out but she leaves with her boyfriend so he feels unlucky in love.

Other's Opinion: Billie Joe wrote this song about a girl he thought was ugly, but he thought she would go out with him. He saw her at the library and asked her out but got rejected because she already had a boyfriend.

Don't Leave Me:
This song seems to be about someone who was important in Billie Joe's life that left him… possibly his father?

I Was There
John Kriftmeyer (Al Sabronte) wrote this song when he was in the band, his past memories and how he seems to regret going away from them.

Disappearing Boy:
Billie wrote this song when he was younger about how he was lonely and how he felt like he was invisible to everyone.

Green Day:
This song is apparently about realising the little things in Billie Joe's life. A "Green Day" is spent smoking pot.

Going To Pasalagua:

This song was written about love, at the time Billie Joe was "falling for" a girl called Jennifer.
Pasalagua is also a funeral home in Rodeo, California. So it was maybe written about death.
What do you think?

16
This song is about being 16 year's old and having to face the fact that your going to have to grow up, act mature, be responsible and face life. Which also shows Billie Joes fears of when he was turning 16 perhaps and that he felt pressure falling on him.

Road To Acceptance:

I've found two different meanings for this song: billie joe wrote this because he wanted to be accepted by people OR its about how billie wants unity for everybody regardless of their appearance, race, religion etc

The Judges Daughter:

Billie Joe wrote this about finding the perfect girl

Paper Lanterns:
this song is pretty self explanatory through the lyric "I'm understanding now that we are only friends, to this day I am asking why I still think about you…"

Why Do You Want Him?
This song is about Billie Joe wondering why the hell his mom wants her boyfriend, he wrote this song when he was 12, 2 years after his father died.

409 In Your Coffeemaker:
This song is about day dreaming "I sit and stare in this day dream". And about Billie Joe's childhood at school, why he couldn't get along with the other children.

Others opinions:
possibly about when Billie was younger and he put 409 in his teachers coffee.

Knowledge:
This was written by Operation Ivy.. simply about not knowing something… not having the knowledge… well I'm guessing anyways :)

1,000 Hours:
Billie wrote this about a girl he knew

Dry Ice:
About those times when you just cant get the opposite sex out of your head

Only Of You:
Same meaning as Dry Ice, except "only of you" is about when your thinking only of the one you love.

The One I Want:
A Love song, about the one that you want, your love. Simple really :)

I Want To Be Alone:
Just like the title says, he wanted to be left alone, possibly from children at school, his siblings or parents, etc.. a typical teenage thing really ;)
