Reading The Stock Disc
This is an Example of the Stock Disc that, if it's not missing or removed, can be found embedded into the right side of the Ljungman's Butt Stock. These Stock Disc's are like Information Tags for the particular firearm they are found on, and are also found on most other Swedish Rifles. The Disc's can be very useful in determining things about the rifle such as: The Bore diamiter, last noticed Bore condishion, and expected shot placement at 100 meters. However, they can be difficult to read to the untrained eye. Thus, I've put together this guide to help both the collector and the shooter of the Ljungman AG42B.
Marking #1 can be pointing over either "6.51" or 6.46 (in this case, it is pointing to the "6.51"). This mark tell's the first two numbers in the Bore diamiter. In this case, the first two numbers are "6.5" The "1" in the "6.51" marking, should be ignored, as it relates to Marking #2, and is part of that serries of numbers (as is the seccond "6" in "6.46").

Marking #2 give's the third number in the Bore diamiter and, is in this case, is pointing over the "3" in the top row of numbers. Given that Marking #1 is "6.5" an Marking #2 is "3", that it can be dirived from the disc that this rifle's Bore diamiter is "6.53". For another example, if Marking #1 was over the "6.46" and Marking #2 was over the "0", then the Bore diamiter would be "6.50" If Marking #2 is not present, than the Bore diamiter is either "6.46" or "6.51", whatever the poisition of Marking #1 may be.

Marking #3 indicates the condishion of the Bore the last time it was inspected at an Amoury. This was done by exsamining the Bore for Rust. One of the three numberes (1, 2, 3) will be marked. A marking of "1" is better than a marking of "2" or "3". This Disc is marked "3" which means that allot of Rust was observed in the Bore. A poor marking does not necessarily mean poor accuracy however. The Rifle to which this Disc is from still has sharp grooves and shoots quite well dispite it's "low score".
NOTE: If marking #3 is not present, then the Bore was replaced or in "New" condishion when inspected.

Marking #4 referes to and reviles the Overslag (meaning how much over the point of aim the Bullet will hit at a distance of 100 Meters). The marking appears as a number (in this case, the number "1"). Each number equils one tenth of a Meter (0.1). In this case, the Bullet's point of impact will be 0.1 Meters above the point of aim at 100 Meters. For another example, if marking #4 was "3", then the Bullet's point of impact would be 0.3 Meters above the point of aim.
NOTE: If marking #4 is not present (or marked "0"), then the point of impact is equil to the point of aim.

The word "
Torped" simply refers to the 139 grain, Boat-Tail bullet used in the Ljungman AG42B.
