This is ME

This is my home page, my name is Dave Biagi

I am glad that you could stop by. I am doing this home page because it is a fun thing to do; but it's also a school project. I am forty-eight years old and have been in construction most of my work years, now I am a student, trying to learn something about the computer world. I have never sat behind a computer until the Fall Quarter 1999 at Lake Tahoe Cummunity College, in California.

Always Sailling

I"ve always had an intrest in sailing, even as a young boy. I finally bought my first sailboat in 1993. It is a 2-22 Venture, made by MacGreggor. I gave her a new paint job, here in my yard, in 1997. I also upgraded to new sails from, North Sails, which included a main, jib, 150 Genoa, and .75 Genaker.

Boat camping

Lake Tahoe

I like boat camping at Lake Tahoe alot. There is so much do and see here by boat. There are so many places to boat camp, one of my favorite spots is a place we call Whale Beach, because there is a rock just off shore, that looks like a whale. My buddy Cliff and I went and camped over whale beach on May 14 and 15,2000, Cliff tried his hand at fishing, but nothing was caught, so we had chicken for lunch.

British Virgin Islands

Bareboat Charter School

In November 1995 Cliff and I went to the island of Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands, to do some sea schooling and have some fun. We spent 2 weeks just sailing, studying, and having nothing but fun. The first week we spent it on a 43.5 Beneteau, called "Grizzly". The second week we spent it on 500 Beneteau, called "Xanadu".

Ted captain/instructor, Cliff, and I were the only ones onboard, so we each had our own state room. This gave each of us plenty of room which made for a great vacation-school. One place of intrest was Cruz Bay on the island of St. John. Most of the people here are still in the hippy days, you know like wearing tye-dye, long hair, and smelling like putulya oil. This place was so much fun we stayed here an extra day. There are so many places to go snorkling, the water is just so clear and warm. The outside air was 85° F and the water was 84° F. Any way we had a great time and we did pass our ASA(American Sailing Association)Bareboat Chartering and Intermediate Coastal Cruising and got our Certificates.

San Francisco Bay

Under the Gate

My son, Matt, and I take a weekend once and a while to go down to Cliff's boat, which he keeps in Benicia. It's a 33 foot "Ranger" which is known for its speed but still comfortable to cruise. From Benicia we head up the Carquinez Strait, there are a lot of big ships in this area that need lots of room. It is quite exciting when there are a few of these ships and you have to tack in and around them. From there we sail into San Pablo Bay, which is pretty tricky because of the bridge pillars. It would be easy to hit, if you don't know what you are doing. Now you are entering the San Francisco Bay. Most of the time we head straight for the Golden Gate Bridge to sail under and out the gate. I can't tell you why we do this, It is just something we have to do.

What a great challenge to sail the San Francisco Bay, the winds are great and you have to stay on top of what the tides are doing and you will have a good sail like we always do.
