No doubt about it, the U.K. SUBS are the best band ever to have emerged from this thing we call punk rock. They've been around from the very beginning without disappearing, selling out or getting (too) big-headed ! With their debut album Another Kind Of Blues they single-handedly initiated the "chugga-chugga" guitar sound synonomous with so much of todays' music. The follow-up album, Brand New Age is what I consider to be the most influential album in punks' history, with its' chugga guitars alternating with massive power chords, the classic example being Emotional Blackmail. Dig this or dig yer own grave.
CHEMICAL WAR
Taken from one of the two 25th anniversary albums, Quintessentials, this is fairly typical Subs' fare.
ANOTHER CUBA
A slower number, but so was Warhead ! The opening bass chords draw you into this song like a magnet.
NAZI CUNTS
Fine sentiments indeed on this track from the 'O' album, Occupied.
DUMFUX
Charlie and the boys rail against Tipper Gore on this little belter from the album Normal Service Resumed.
NEW YORK STATE POLICE
An oldie and a classic. Need I say more ?
YOUR EGO
This short song lifted from the other anniversary album, Riot, shows they haven't lost their touch
BAILIFFS
"The bailiff's at the door, and they got the police.. let's fuck 'em up, and throw them our tv"
