Artist Bio
Tricia Doughty is a Napa Valley artist and creator of the painted chefs (also known as the 'faceless chefs').   She is inspired by world reknown artists and designers such as, Jessel Miller, Leonetto Capiello, Didier Lorenco and Lowell Herrero.  Tricia has been involved in the arts since she was a child and had made a strong declaration  that she was going to either be an  athlete or professional artist someday. In a way, Tricia made it happen for both of her passions.

After taking several years' hiatus from art due to hevy involvement in music & sports during highschool and college, Tricia came back to it in 1998...The year she had done her first painting titled
"Uncorked".  Her best friend's husband, executive chef  Rogelio Jacinto, liked it so much he asked Tricia if she could paint something for a bare wall in his restaurant --an upscale pizzeria in St. Helena then known as Tomatina.  This was where the faceless chefs made their first appearance and rapidly grew popular at the Napa Town Center's annual Chefs' Market event for two consecutive years.   Since being discovered at the Chefs market, Tricia has completed a rather large project of fulfilling an order of 10,000 prints for the Mumm Cuvee Winery to promote its new 2002 Brut Prestige sparkling wine label.

In September of 2002, the chefs made their first debut on the global market through
Portal Publications, Ltd. in Novato, CA. and their sales ranked within the top ten on the sales charts with buyers such as Cost Plus World Market, Michaels Crafting Stores and Ben Franklin Crafts among them.   Tricia  expanded her licensing venture  in 2003 with Santa Barbara Ceramics Design--a ceramics company in Santa Barbara, CA. that manufactures and distributes kitchen items and home decor. So far, the  design company came out with olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles decorated with Tricia's chefs.

In 2003, an additional chef character was introduced to the global market:  The Fat Chef in the painting "Mustard Chef".  This image was used to create the official poster for the First annual
Martha's Vineyard Culinary Classic event that was supposed to take place in September 2003 until Hurricane Isabel hit the East Coast on the event's opening day.  Needless to say, this event never happened but the poster was featured in the 2004 Intermezzo Magazine, volume 3 Issue 2 as a advertisement for the event for a second try but again hurricane season prevailed.

In December 2006, 20th Century Fox came out with a comedy feature film "Night at the Museum" starring Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney.  Tricia's print of the image "Limonata" was used as part of the decor in this movie.

Tricia also paints still-life, mixed media and abstract art.  Currently, Tricia is working with metal and glass works inspired by Gordon Huether, world-reknown sculpture artist in Napa.

Tricia thanks you for stopping by her website and encourages you to feel free to email her with any questions or comments you may have about her work.
