DOORSTOP DOGGY

My favorite pet is a doorstop,
A heavy black Boston Terrier.
I don’t have to chase it with a mop,
And there is no mutt less furrier.

It’s sculpted of stuff hard as iron,
Although there’s a big chip off its ear.
On my chair it’s never caught lyin’,
For it sure knows its place around here.

It’s always faithful to its duty,
Holding that den door flush to the wall.
Never fear a flea or a cooty
From its hairless covering will fall.

While others take pooches for a walk,
I’m reclining before my TV,
For from my pet there’s never a bark
To go out and find just the right tree.

I really think it’s the perfect pet,
And it didn’t cost very much dough.
Although I don’t require a vet,
My own doctor checked my broken toe.

I never should have picked the dog up -
It’s supposed to remain on the floor.
Dropped it pretending to pat the pup.
Dagnab it, that big toe is still sore.
