~FREEDOM TO SHOW ONE'S TRUE COLORS~

Well, well, well.....while I am not one who wants to shut the liberal press down, I must admit I am sort of enjoying the sensible response of the American people to some of the liberal press who cross the line from objective reporting into downright disgusting lies about the United States and its motives. I believe in a free press. I also believe in the public voicing its opinions LOUDLY about such traitors as Peter Arnett. I believe in holding the press responsible for what it says and does. Yes, I say traitor. I know Arnett is from New Zealand, but he is also a naturalized American citizen. The most interesting question about Arnett's latest idiocy is why was he even hired in the first place after his actions in the past? More about that later.

In the past week, Arnett has said the following remarks. Direct quotes from him are in red. Iraqi television, by the way, would not pass for a free press anywhere in the world. Peter Arnett said the American "war plan has failed". He said that "the determination of the Iraqi forces, the determination of the government, and the willingness to fight for their country." had brought this about. He boasted about his own part in demoralizing American troops by saying that "Our reports about civilian casualties here, about the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States. It helps those who oppose the war when you challenge the policy to develop their arguments." At the moment when three American journalists were missing and had been kidnapped by the Iraqi military Arnett said "I've met unfailing courtesy and cooperation, courtesy from your people and cooperation from the Ministry of Information." I believe that may be the only factual thing the man said. Saddam and his state owned and operated television station are not idiots, but they are certainly willing to use any idiots willing to be used by them. Arnett was. Not long before this interview, Arnett reported on the Today Show that the British and American POW's were being treated well. He said "President Saddam Hussein had personally ordered that these prisoners be treated well. ... Saddam wants them given the best medicine and the best food." At the time he made that statement there was video on the Drudge Report showing American soldiers who had been shot execution style, their pants pulled down and their bodies defiled.

In the 1991 Gulf War Arnett reported that the US had bombed a baby milk factory. The US Military said it was a chemical weapons factory. Iraqi television, in an effort to convince the world that it was a baby milk factory showed film of uniformed workers and supposedly powdered milk. The only problem was, the uniformed workers,....... Iraqis,..... IN Iraq, were wearing uniforms stamped with the words "BABY MILK FACTORY" in ENGLISH! Give me a break!

So what happened after Arnett's latest stupid act? The NY Times defended him. No surprise there. Defending traitors and tearing down the USA is their specialty. Walter Cronkite, that likeable old liberal himself appeared in the op-ed pages praising Arnett's "knowledgeable dispatches". Now, Walter, when almost everything Arnett said was probably FALSE, don't even you think "knowledgeable" is a questionable word to choose?

So how did this monstrous dictatorship that has brutalized it's citizens and neighbors for decades, repressed it's women, starved it's children, and defied the United Nations become the darling of the liberal press? This country whose leadership hides it's soldiers in civilian clothes, hides military personnel and weapons behind women and children LITERALLY, and shoots and defiles the bodies of unarmed prisoners of war DESERVES to be brought down. There is only one answer... that reason is that the liberal self-hatred and disrespect for the country that allows it to exist does not THINK. They do not REASON. They are the epitome of what used to be called "knee-jerk liberalism". That is how they have ended up in so many indefensible stances over the years.

I cannot find one moral, economic, or diplomatic reason to NOT bring them down. Then again, I was brought up in a country that at least fights the human tendency to let finances overrule when ethical behavior and human compassion are an issue.

If one wants to know how the war is going, I suggest they judge like this....the gloomier Peter Jennings and Dan Rather look, the better the war is going. The more hysterical and depressed the NY TIMES comments are, the closer we are to victory in Iraq. The greatest fear those people have is that we will win this JUSTIFIABLE war on a barbaric dictator. Their second greatest fear is that the world and some of our own citizens will discover that, once again, the United States of America has done the right thing.
