SISTER PLANNING

She sat by the fireside All winter long
And dreamed of the time
When the snow would be gone
Joyfully then she would go door to door
And tell all the people the blessing in store
Now wee sister Busy from over the way,
invited her out in service one day.
"I'll stay home today." the poor sister said.
"It's bad underfoot and it's worse overhead."

Warm spring breezes blew into the town
And swept the last vestige of snow from the ground
And wee sister Busy, not one to forsake
Offered to help her a schedule to make.
Sister Planning declined, she was busy that day
And things needed doing at home anyway
She'd do all her cleaning and mending and things
And then she'd be free the glad tidings to bring.

Summer came in and the weather grew hot
"I'll go out in the fall when it's cooler, she thought
And wee Sister Busy who never gave in,
Stopped by and offered assistance again
When autumnn grew old and the trees were all bare,
They found sister Planning asleep in her chair.
And though she was breathing, her spirit was dead
Her plans were all smothered inside of her head.

Now wee Sister Busy with plenty to do
Had also made plans but she carried them through
And now 'ere I let one more season go by
I will ask myself, "What kind of sister am I?"
