The Learning Playhouse offers a variety of programs for the children in our care.
We offer a full day program where the children will have a chance to have some free play time to learn as well as structured activities such as:  circle time, crafts, puzzles, story time, fine motor and gross motor, hand-eye coordination and sensory all while having lots of FUN!  The children will receive morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack.  These are posted for the parents on our parent board and are on a four week rotation basis that follow the Canada Food Guide for children. 

The Learning Playhouse is excited to offer a new Preschool Program that is for children over 2.5 years old to prepare them for school.  They will learn to socialize with others, build their self-esteem, independencey, listen to the teacher, separation from parent (and help parent with separation from child) and of course their A,B,C's and 1,2,3's.   We do this through weekly themes and offer two classes a day; A.M. class from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. and P.M. class from 12:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m.   Parents can choose from all 5 days a week (Mon-Fri) or 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) or 2 days a week (Tues & Thurs).
Learning My Way

When I listen to stories or look at books each day,
I知 learning to read in my own special way.
When I sing a song or say a rhyme,
My listening skills will develop on time.
The small muscles I use when I work a puzzle or play with clay
Will help me to write a sentence one day.
When I jump, wiggle and run the day long,
My muscles and body are growing strong.
When I put away my toys or pass out snacks at school,
I知 really doing my math, too.
Making bubbles or looking at clouds in the sky,
Will develop my scientific skills by and by.
My coloring, painting and gluing may look like a mess,
But they all encourage my creative best.
When you read to me, talk and listen too,
I値l learn to love books and language, its true.
As you give me choices and let me go,
Into an independent adult I will grow.
When you accept me for who I am and cherish what I do,
I値l learn to love others and respect them, too.
Every minute of every new and exciting day,
I知 learning and growing in my own special way!
When Your Child Comes Home Messy 
Red paint in the hair? Blue paint on the jeans?
Sand in the shoes? Peanut butter on a favorite shirt?
White socks that look brown? Sleeves a bit damp?

YOUR CHILD PROBABLY......

solved a problem
created a masterpiece
negotiated a difference
learned a new skill
had a great time
developed new language skills

YOUR CHILD PROBABLY DIDN'T.......
feel lonely
become bored
do repetitive tasks that are too babyish
do worksheets that are too easy
do sit down work that is discouraging

YOU PROBABLY......
paid good money for those clothes
Will have trouble getting the red paint out
are concerned the caregiver isn't paying enough attention to your child

YOUR CAREGIVER PROBABLY......
was aware of your child's special needs and interests
spent time planning a challenging activity for the children
encouraged the children to try new things
was worried you might be concerned

Young children really learn when they are actively involved in play.....not when someone is talking to them. There is a difference between "messy" and "lack of care." Your caregiver made sure your child was fed, warm, offered new skills and planned messy fun things to do because that's how young children learn!
Send your child in clothes that can get dirty! Keep extra old clothes at the site for times when the child gets really messy. But remember, young children need time to be kids.
