Location: Thekkumbad is situated in Mattool panchayath of Kannur District, Kerala State, India. This is a small island in Valapattanam River between Mattool and Cherukunnu. See map |
| Population: About 250 families are residing here those belongs to Islam and Hindu religion. |
| Agriculture: A major part of island is enriched with coconut plantations. Availability of water from rivers contributes a favourable climate condition for coconut cultivation. Most of the industries of village are based on coconut and allied products. About 6 acres of land of southern part of village are used for paddy cultivation. Rice cultivation depends upon availability of favourable mansoon. Some of them are engaged in fishing and diary farming. |

For secondary education they have to go to C.H.M.K.S.G high School, Mattool or Govt High School, Cherukunnu. | Economy: 60 percent of earnings are from gulf money. About 35 percent of total population are working outside India. Most of them are in U.A.E, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain. |
| Industry: As already stated above, the most of the industry of village is based on coconut and allied products. So many coconut-drying fields are situated here. The raw coconut for drying is coming from neighbor villages like Mattool, Muttum etc. . The copra is sending to other states like Maharashtra and Tamilnadu. A mechanized coir factory situated here produces raw fibre for coir industries. They are also sending output to other states of India. One coconut oil mill is also running here. |
