"Christmas Bells" appeared on A Winter's Solstice III - Windham Hill WD-1098, 1990. This song also appears on A Putumayo Christmas - World, Folk, Blues, Jazz and Soul. Putumayo says that it's not available in stores, so go to their 'new releases' page and check it out.

• "I'm From New Jersey" appeared on track 11 of "Fathers and Sons - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack". This is the soundtrack to the 1992 independent film. A very eclectic lineup of artists like Chris Whitley, Susanna Hoffs and Julianna Hatfield.
• "Down in the Milltown" appeared on Track 12 of Troubadours of Folk, Vol. 5: Singer-Songwriters of the 1980s. Label unknown. This is an excellent compilation of songs from a wide variety of contemporary folk artists from the 1980's. A few of these folks are big stars in genres other than Folk, and some others are sorely underappreciated. But with names like Shawn Colvin, John Gorka, Bruce Cockburn, Nanci Griffin, Billy Bragg, Lucinda Williams and The Roches...you really can't go wrong.
• "Furniture" appeared on track 2 of New Folk Generation Alternative Rock, 1996. K-tel 6143-2. Other songs by: Lucinda Williams, Suzanne Vega, Cowboy Junkies, Lisa Germano, Dar Williams, John Prine.

• "The Gypsy Life" appeared on Sunday Morning Sessions - Munich Records MRCD 176, 1995.

• "The Gypsy Life" (recorded live) appeared on Mountain Stage Vol. 8 - Best of Mountain Stage, Vol. 8, Blue Plate 1995.

• "Geza's Wailing Ways" appeared on track 7 (disc 1) of "Fast Folk, a community of singers & songwriters ." Smithsonian Folkways, 40135. It's a live song from 1983. (Earlier on Fast Folk magazine 207). Fast Folk Musical Magazine helped jumpstart the careers of musicians such as Shawn Colvin, Steve Forbert, John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky, Christine Lavin, Richard Shindell, Suzanne Vega, and many others. This double CD set comprises honest, intimate versions of their songs, available in retail stores for the first time! 2 CDs, extensive notes, photos, 34 tracks, 142 minutes.
• "Baby Blues" appeared on track 8 of KBCO Studio C Volume 3 - Label: KBCO-C-03, 1992. These are live performances from KBCO's Studio C in Boulder, CO (Shawn Colvin, Michael Penn, Richard Thompson).
• "Lightning Blues" (with Michael Manring) appeared on track 4 of WFUV CITY FOLK LIVE CD. (This CD was given to people during their pledge drive. Disc contains 17 rare on air tracks by Lucinda Williams, David Grey, Greg Brown, John Gorka, Patty Larkin, Martin Sexton, Joan Baez and more.
• "Furniture" appeared on track 6 of Captured live On The Mountain 2 - Label: KMTT 103,7 FM, 90795 02952, 1995. These are live performances from KMTT 103.7 Seattle (Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, Timbuk Three).
• "Let Them In" appeared on track 1 (disc 2) of ACOUSTIC Café show 124 (Week of 5/27-6/2/97). These are live performances. This is the actual ACOUSTIC Café radio show on two cd's.
• "People My Age" (disc 2 track 15) appeared on Philadelphia Folk Festival, 4 cd box (4 cd box set comprising great performances at the Philadelphia Folk Festival for the past 40 years). Sliced Bread records SB74440.
• "I'm From New Jersey" appeared on track 14 (disc 2) of WXPN Live at the World Cafe 10th Annv CD. From 88.5 WXPN Philadelphia. This is the 10th Anniversary 2 disc set of Live at the World Cafe. A CD sampler with The Story, Lucinda Williams, Natalie Merchant, Nanci Griffith, Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin etc.
• "When I Lost My Faith", "Around The House" and "Let Them In" appeared with an interview on Acoustic Café Show 326, Hour. This is the actual ACOUSTIC Café radio show on two cd's (April 2001).
• "Furniture" appeared on track 13 of Sole Music fm 101.9. These are live performances from Sole Music fm 101.9 (various artists: Lisa Germano, Sara Hickman, Robbie Robertson & the Red Road Ensemble, K’s Choice).

• "Let's Get Some Beers". John sings a verse of the song on Pete Nelson's album The Restless Boys' Club (Signature Sounds SSRC 1232, 1996). Bill Morrissey, Cliff Eberhardt, and Greg Brown also sing on this song.

• "While Roving on a Winter's Night". John shares lead vocals with Dar Williams and others on Heritage, a CD produced, arranged and performed by Darol Anger.Six Degrees Records 524434, distributed by Island Records.

• On Jack Hardy's album Through (Brambus Records 199012-2, 1990), John is credited with singing harmony vocals, but the liner notes do not indicate on which songs he sings.
• John sings harmony vocals on the songs "Troubled Mind" and "Dad's Yard" on Catie Curtis' album Truth From Lies (Guardian 7243 8 35435-2 6, 1996).
• Also John sings "If I Only Had a Brain" on Barry Mitterhoff's album called SILK CITY on Flying Fish.
