News from the Calgary Dewits

Hello everyone! Notice anything different about the site? I just had to try to the new CSS specs so I got carried away and re-did our entire website...

In December we were shocked by Addah's 'early' journey to Heaven and Hanneke flew to Manitoba to be with Henri and Josh and her entire family. She came back a different person - changed by the experience of bonding with both God and family.

Hann was back for about 10 days or so and then we were back off to Manitoba for a very different reason! Sandra and Jeremy were tying the knot and we were there to celebrate this wonderful event with them. I was very glad that we could also visit with Henri and Josh for an afternoon / evening before they went to BC for a couple of weeks. We continue to wish them God's strength and care through this difficult time. We are praying for you every day!

I was very disappointed by the lack of snow as we drove into Manitoba. Dad thought I was a little optimistic when he saw my xcountry skis on top of the truck! Shortly thereafter Carman got the most snow it's had in bunch of years so I was happy about that. We recieved the happy news that Christy and Calvin are officially engaged to be married next summer - congratulations guys!

The wedding approached quickly and Rod and I were both running pretty good fevers by the time our MC job started. We apparently did ok though - I know I had a lot of fun doing it! It was a very nice day and San and Jer took off nice and early so we could party the night away. Of course I spent that evening in bed but apparently everyone else whooped it up pretty good...

What made the holiday even more enjoyable was that Val and Harry were down for a good part of our stay. The house was full and busy but this allowed us to visit with them and our kids could mingle with their cousins. Marj also came down for a few days with her kids - Brandi and KC get along very well so KC was excited about that! We could also visit with Marj again - seems like we never do enough of that eh Marj? I didn't see to much of Maureen and Ryan but the time we did have was very nice. We also visited Mike and Lil and Chris and Calvin for an afternoon / evening and that was a good time too. We are very richly blessed with our families and it was nice to experience these blessings again.

Dale and Audi were over quite a bit - what a cute couple! (Hee hee - sorry Dale!) Rod is all 'growed up' and it freaks me out to think that my little brothers are bigger, smarter and soon to be richer then me! ;-) Janice was also down the entire time and we had a great time visiting with her as well. I had a really good time with Mom and Dad as well. The kids are still talking about their "mommy grandpa" and "daddy grandpa"! Mom spoiled them rotten and even Dad had a fairly tough time not spoiling them!

All to soon it was time to pack up and head home. We always feel sad as we drive down the lane but that's the price you pay for moving away I guess. The price you pay for driving in the winter is that you end up in Moosejaw with -36 degree temperatures and a windchill warning of -48!! Thankfully the truck limped home to Calgary ok and other then frostbite on our toes we were unscathed.

Well, I've rambled on long enough - take care and don't hesitate to call or email us. Oh - and congratulations to Hinrik on turning 31 and getting a new job!

Love,

Vern, Hanneke, KC and Niko
