NICOLA BOWERY BY LUCIEN FREUD

Lucien decided to paint a picture of Leigh and Nicola lying on a bed together,  which he called : ´And The Bridegrom´ after a poem about an unconsumated marriage by Whitman ( this was before Leigh and Nicola had even thought of getting married so it was a very prophetic name).   Leigh had a different name for the picture : ´A Fag and his Hag´ It was a beautiful painting and one of Lucian´s most stylish.  Nicola loved the opportunity to spend time with Leigh every day and is very happy that there is a painting of them together.                                                                           SUE TILLEY - THE LIFE AND TIMES OF AN ICON                                                                                                                                        pics & paints by Lucian Freud
