Comments: Although there is a Texas roads site (which does a nice job of covering the general rules of designation), none of the metro areas or individual highways have been covered. And as of this entry (9/25/97), Louisiana does not yet have a road site. I believ that there are plenty of opportunities in Houston and New Orleans. One interesting topic might be the original 1960's routing for I-310 in New Orleans, which was to run along the Mississippi River.
