2006 - 2007 SEASON Summer Show - The Fantasticks (Musical) By Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt August 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2006 Please Note - This show is not part of our subscription series. Matt and Louisa fall in love in spite of their feuding fathers. A swashbuckler is hired to stage a phony adventure in which Matt 'saves' the girl, a ploy designed to reinforce their love and result in a Happy Ending. But the plot turns sour, shattering the kids' illusions. After a separation and a series of painful personal defeats, the lovers learn the realities of life. Their romance is reignited and they gain a deeper view of life and love. Join us to see why this was the longest running musical in the world. Educating Rita (Comedy) By Willy Russell September 29, 30, October 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 2006 Frank is a middle-aged English tutor whose disillusioned outlook on life drives him to drink. Enter Rita. She is a forthright hairdresser who is hungry for education. Rita quickly wins over the very reticent teacher by her native shrewdness and her refusal to accept secondhand academic opinions. In the course of the play she gives Frank a new lease on life by making him believe in himself once again. Enjoy analyzing life and friendship through Rita’s eyes. There is strong language and there may be smoking on-stage in this show. Crazy For You (Musical) Book By Ken Ludwig. Music & Lyrics By Ira & George Gershwin November 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, December 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 2006 This is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance. Despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be ex-fiancée, Bobby achieves his dream! This is a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin tunes like “Someone to Watch Over Me”, “I Got Rhythm” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me”. Dr. Cook's Garden (Drama) By Ira Levin February 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, March 1, 2, 3, 2007 Dr. Cook is a small town physician with a little something to hide. When a young doctor returns home after a long absence, he visits with Dr. Cook, a man whom he has admired since childhood. This is an evening of suspense and plot twists that will keep you riveted. March 23, 24, 25, 30, 31, April 1, 2007 Blithe Spirit (Comedy) By Noel Coward May 25, 26, 27, 30, 31 June 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 2007 The ingenious plot tells how novelist Charles Condomine invites an eccentric medium to his home in order to learn the language of the occult. Little does Charles or his lovely second wife Ruth know that the séance staged by the medium will summon back Charles’ first wife, now “passed over” for seven years. But the dead Elvira, still beautiful and mischievous, appears and torments Charles by reminding him of their days and nights together. This is Noel Coward at his sparkling best! There will be smoking on-stage in this show.
