Women in Theatre
Women made their first appearance on the stage under King Charles II. During the restoration women, although still limited, contributed a great deal to the world of the theatre.

Actresses
Three of the most well known playwrights of the Restoration period included; Elizabeth Inchbald, Aphra Behn, and Susannah Centlivre. Although these women were groundbreaking within drama their personal lives were often more critiqued than their work.
